Ha. No different to paying somebody to build an engine or paint your car. You are paying for someone's time and knowledge to work on YOUR car. That said I would have no problem if my tuner 'locked' my tune so nobody else can use or see it. You wouldn't ask an engine builder to pass on all the specs to the new guy you now have to build a motor and expect him to hand them over. I say you own it but that doesn't mean you own the info and specs on what went on to get it to where it is. Far too much R&D is involved to just hand out that information .

You can do what you like with it. The workshops who disagree don't have a legal leg to stand on. If they have a secretive attitude its time to go somewhere else.

MY ROD GOT OUT Member 434 Member For: 14y 5m 10d Posted 09/02/13 03:23 AM Share Posted 09/02/13 03:23 AM They should get people to sign paperwork etc to cover their ass, I don't see how supplying and fitting parts on a vehicle and making it illegal to drive on public roads is legal anyway... When I got my cat put in I had to sign an agreement to state that it was for track use only. When they tune a vehicle they make it illegal to drive on public roads most times, so they are crazy not to get something signed.

New Zealand Posted 09/02/13 04:40 AM Share Posted 09/02/13 04:40 AM Just because you paid for something does not mean it is yours. I think the question can be simplifies to; Are you paying for a SERVICE or are you paying for a PRODUCT? Ie. You can pay for a rental car but it's not yours, you cannot do what you like with it. You can pay to go to the cinema but it isn't your movie. You can buy a new car and it is yours. Then there are the other examples like, you can buy a house but you can't do everything you want to it without council approval. Lol. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2So if I sell my car do I have to take it back to the tuner and get him to take "his" tune out so the new owner can't use it.Also if a tuner locks us out of "his" tune and we want to get more upgrades from another tuner, do we have to go back to the original tuner and get him to unlock it and change it ( and probably charge you) so the new tuner can't see his tune.Sounds like rubbish to me.Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't go to another tuner just to let him copy my tune, but I still want the right to be able to because it is my car and my tune the second I drive out of the tuners, I payed for it !!!! Adam Here since the start... They would have no idea what they're getting themselves into without going over the entire tune. Starting off with one of their own tunes would be far less time consuming and far safer.
