I payed good money for my car so I believe I would own the tune in it to do as I please.

If I get it retuned and pay good money for that don't I own it to do as I please with it ?

It was my understanding that because the falcons are all tuned from a map sensor they needed to be custom tuned to get right ie why all the capa tunes are less then perfect.

With the ls community you could buy a full tuning software to tune your own car for $1500 bucks cable and software, and the tunes could essentially be copied and then tweaked their was afew cowboys who would steal and reflash into cars.

You give them enough rope and they will hang themselves normally at the expense of a poor persons car blowing up.

Also who the hell wants to learn enough to tune your own car bugger that just pay the people who know what their doing its their job my 2 cents.

Fair point and I agree to some extent, but..........

It all comes down to the relationship you have with your tuner, I am very happy that my car:

1. Gets me to work everyday

2. Has enough power to scare most bikes on a roll on

3. Has run a 10 sec pass

This all comes down to the hardware my tuner has advised me to purchase and the tune it self, so why would I let someone suck out the tune I have been so happy with?

The tune may have been paid for by me but it is only as good as it is due to the time and effort my tuner has spent on tuning mine, his and his customers cars.

Next will come;

I know you've paid for your cooler kit already, but if you actually physically want it you have to come to me for fitting and tuning.

I originally thought the same thing John, but after talking to Bill from HPT recently he has stated they can be?

I don't realy want to try for fear of locking myself out of my own pcm!

Was he talking about the Ford system in general or inclusive of the Aussie system Luke ?

Was a big eye opener coming from Holden's to ford. Kalmaker tunes are shared freely with everyone looking to help each other out. Hell there is even a website purely for sharing tunes and helping. Modding modern Fords is like some secret black magic.

No its just the computer attached to the first ba was like nothing out there ever before

And cracking the ecu in the earlie stages was big business

Anyone that was there from the begining has pioneered what we have today , u can see why some ( tuners ) take " stealing " personally

But it is the way the world is now and u can see it from both sides of the fence

In an ideal world where people are trying to protect their intellectual property....it can only be protected by how much a entity/business is willing to spend on the legal costs to protect their intellectual property (tunes).

There will be limited to no compensation for breaches....this along with many things we know will continue to happen.

Perhaps contacting SCT and other tune products to incorporate unique security into the tunes made by workshops through some sort of "licence" to avoid any tune plagiarism.

Hate the industry not the player
