I had my 3000k service done and also got the oil and filter changed. It was $114. I reckon that's good, considering it takes 7lts of oil, a filter and I didnt have to do it. Havent some of you blokes been quoted $260? Was that for full synth? I will switch over at the 15000k service.

I also got the ipod connection looked at because it was bloody annoying. It needed an firmware upgrade and now its sorted. So if yours is playing up, that's what it needs. Best thing I've had in a car(and bluetooth.......and a turbo). I havent used a CD yet and never will. So friggin' convenient!!

Of course there was nothing wrong with the AC according to them, even though its really struggling in this heat. The girl did mention they get a lot of complaints about the FG AC. Funny that.

make sure you ask for the latest firmware to the ICC and ECU every time you go in as well!

They did a firmware update on mine at 3,000km and my fuel economy went down to 10.9 and the car pulled so much harder!

plus every time they do an update to the ICC it gets rid of all the little bugs, occasionally the screen would white wash and reset and I would see the little man walk across the screen again, after firmware update this was fixed

10.9 is great! Very handy update that one. Mine averages 12, which is awesome considering my SS was 16lt/100km and the turbos quicker in everyway.

Recirc will always work better because it's not bringing in outside hot air. That's why in AUTO mode when it's really hot (like 38+ deg) when the AC switches on, it automatically selects recirc for a while. When I think it's really hot I select recirc myself and then change to fresh when it cools down a bit. I got my car back from service yesterday, they checked the AC but it was working OK anyway. Any AC system will really struggle in 40Deg heat.

I think one of the perceptions about the FG AC being not as efficient is because of the expanse of glass and dashboard. It deosn't matter how good the AC is with direct sun heitting that sized screen and dash board, the rediated heat will be excessive. Also when it's really hot, feel the headlining - it's quite cool, so they do a good job of insulation in the roof lining. The BA was much hotter. If you notice if you are driving in the heat and the direct sunlight is hitting the dash, it seems to be hotter. When the sunlight is not hitting the dash it seems cooler. At least I recon it does. Anyway I'm going to get a thermocouple and digital thermometer. The only way to categorically determine if the FG AC has a problem is to measure the air temperature directly at the vent. When I get the results I'll post them. Could take a while though.

This is an interesting topic.
