No. They broadcast digitally.

Here I setup my ipod by connecting 12V and AUX input behind the console so it cant be seen. All I need to do is plug my ipod into the white cable you see in my pic for crystal clear sound. The mini ipod sits very snug in a phone holder. I never use the CD player anymore.

Broadcast digitally?? What the. Your radio picks up analogue.

edit - The only way they coudl broadcast digitally, is if you had something that plugs into the back of your headunit, in between it and the antenna, and even then it would need to be converted back to analogue before entering the headunit. The tuner has no form of DAC that could handle a digital broadcast.

when I bought my BA Xr6 ute in september, I was talking about the cd player witht he salesman and I ended up getting the "prestige sound" with the 6 stacker.

anywho during conversation he said if I want more music a iPOD can be hooked up to the stereo! after months and months of thinking about this its got me stuffed if its possible!!

can anyone shed some light on if it can be done or what?

id absolutely love to have 30gb of mp3s in my ute!!!

If you wire up the aux input, you can plug your Ipod into this. There are threads on here showing you how to do it yourself (mine cost about $10 in parts and about 45 mins) or you can get a Ford dealer to do for more$$

Not sure about "prestige sound" and mine has the "premium sound" option

I found the instructions that I used - thanks to the author - Aaron

I have found the quality of the audio aux input to be terrible. The line levels are so much lower and songs have absolutely no bass at all.

Then there is the engine whine through the music that is increased when you turn the volume up to hear the ipod.

Mines hooked up, and it's great. You can put more than one input into your T, glovebox, centre console etc.

I think the whine comes from how you wire it up, I rarely get it. The only real difference for me in the quality is that you have to turn the volume up on the ipod to full, then have you premium sound level on about 16 to get the normal volume of say 12.

I'll take some pics and post them up when I get a chance. But for $20 odd bucks and 20 mins of your time, it's fantastic to have. :spoton:

BTW I was under the impression that you cannot get premium sound in the utes? :glad:

Since my aux is being used for my Incar DVD player, the iPod is used through the FM radio. Just get one of those iPod FM modules and you're away. I have a Belkin unit, but a friend of mine said that the Apple FM module is far superiour, mainly because it utilizes the ipods battery/power. Quite good IMO.

G'day,

Be warned this is something that Ford Australia and the Dealer blamed for "causing" my original complaint of radio and CD interference with Premium Sound.

Despite the fact that I bought the iPod 4 months after I reported the car.......

Yes an iPod can be connected via a HIGH quality cable to either the factory provided (ordered) Aux Input jack, which I do not recommend because the quality and workmanship of this item is so poor that it renders the device unlistenable or worst case, like my car, completely stuff the entire audio system up.

You can create your own AUx jack as other have mentioned above and in other threads, or you can buy the various FM Tuner type plug ins for the iPod itself.

Happy Listening...

Cameron
