I have a similar problem with my BF. I installed Alpine EX-10 and used the ford adapter kit (the expensive one) to hook up the Ipod via the aux input. Now bad alternator whine.

Any known fixes for this. Should my sound shop be able to solve this.

Hey Evil F6. I used to have this as well in my BF XR6 Magnet Ute. I got the same whine using the radio transmitter I think. I bought something from Jaycar, but it didn't fix it. It was a cap and transformer. I was going to try this eventually, but I stacked my car before I got a chance, try and make sure you have a common ground for everything, aux cable, radio/head unit, and the EX-10. Also before I got the Ex-10 there wasn't any whine unless I was charging it, maybe a wiring mod? If you want a spare cable I bought one and was going to cut the original cable. As an aside, the Ex-10 is awesome except the only problem I have with it is that if you leave the iPod plugged in it discharges the iPod. Again another wiring mod, hence the cable. Lol

alight mate, I was getting the same problem last week. after owning it a few months now was all great but then I started getting a whine last week in the front drivers speaker. it was the ipod cable kinda earthing out or something because the plastic bits on the plug snapped off and it was just going all funny. if I fiddled with it it would go away but then come back if the plug it was touching something. took it to ford and showed them and they wanted the car for a few hours to check it all out, I said in a kind way f*ck no. I needed the car etc and while I was still there I figured out the the cable just unplugs in the console under the little ipod holder. took me about 2 secs to find out how to do it.

anyway they ordered me another one took couple of days to get in and they called me saying there gonna need the car for 45 mins or so! once again as nicely as I could told them that I can take the cord out myself, and do the swap in under 15 seconds, why the 45 minutes??

so its all done now, and was covered under warranty. I know why the plug would have snapped the plastic bits off though because with the ipod touch its a bit longer then the normal ipods and you kinda gotta squeeze the ipod once its plugged in to a snug fit and over time probably just cracked it.

sorry for the essay but hope this sorts you out, easy fix.
