I have not tried this yet - but you could possibly disconnect the USB cable from under the sack in the centre compartment. I heard that was possible. But not sure what sort of connector it is - whether it truly is a USB connector. Then replace it with a $35 lightning USB cable. But like I said - have not tried this yet.

Or pay $35 for a 30 pin adapter to lighting connector and just pop it onto the existing 30 pin? Just make sure your iPhone 5 case can handle the adapter. You need a single slot in the case that stretches from one bottom speaker to the other rather than have 3 separate slots (speaker - lightning - speaker). I have not tried this yet either. Lets us know if you try either of these options :beerchug:

Thx mate, I thought about the adapter but the least hanging off your phone the better right lol my cover has 3 lots too. Maybe ford have the new cable for the new models?

No one has bought an ex cop car or taxi with holes in the dash??? I only got the car yesterday and the holes are doin my head in I need help lol

It's not a USB cable on FG, that only started with FG II

But yeah an adaptor would be the only likely solution. According to this bloke it works... http://whrl.pl/RdnpE0

your right it's a plug I've never seen before

Stranger things have happened, but unfortunately I seriously doubt Ford would release a new part to suit something that's no longer in production.

The new FG has a USB socket in the console so you can just plug in your standard apple cord to connect your idevices so there's no need for them to change anything on vehicles currently being produced, hence why I can't see it happening.

I bought an adapter from the old iPhone 4 plug to the new lightening one from eBay for $12 to use in my car, and it doesn't work with audio at all (despite the eBay listings saying they do). Also tried it on iPhone docks etc...

Just a heads up, pay for the genuine apple one.

I was just about to post something about this. I have a series 1 FG and an iPhone 5. I have an adapter purchased from a phone store that will charge my phone but not allow it to play through my stero on AUX like my iPhone 4 did via the cord in the console.

Am I missing something??
