I know this has kind of been done before but I need to start getting mods organised so I can start saving and buy what comes up cheap when I see it. Basically I think I'm set on all the mods I want except the exhaust is the only thing confusing me.

Supporting mods will be:

Rapid v2 kit (includes turbo side intake)

KPM 1000cc injectors

Walbro in tank fuel pump

Plugs etc to match tune

So looking for 300rwkw give or take but more worried about the driveability of the car as its a daily. I was thinking of going just the cat as its cheap and I've seen time and time again people hit 300 on about 14psi with cat and mods like above. But what sort of gain is there to be had with a 4" dump aswell? Is it worth it if I don't earn a real lot? (probably take me an extra 2 months just to save for the dump)

I realise theres about 10rwkw to be had with the dump but more concerned with how the power is through the mid range making it feel like more.

Has anyone done the basics to get to 300 and then just added the dump and if so how much difference did you notice and would you recommend it?

I'm pretty sure if you add the dump pipe without doing the flapper mod you won't be able to control boost safely it will spike to free flowing, so I would just do the weld in venom cat or the bolt in cat 300kw will be a huge jump from stock anyway.

Then if you want more later you will need to goto the gtx turbo anyway so why do things twice save dollars.

X2. Just a cat is fine, right upto mid high 300s.

From what people say, adding a dump pipe will breing the boost on a little earlier. What this does to the whole tune I am unsure but I dont think its worth the dollars unless going a bigger turbo later on!

Is it possible to do flapper mod without cat? to hit mid 300s you need to go over 12lb of boost for sure.

I'm thinking pretty similar mods, prob surge and eflex, maybe pw stepped intercooler. I didn't know the route to 300++ could be done without dump (on stock turbo).

Jack will hate me for this.

But this is what Pete P did.

Cat

Injectors

Fuel pump

E85

Cooler pipes.

Made 330 an ran 11.3@123. G6e open diff too.

That was first time out and only on 18psi iirc.

But rather than better it he's banged an f6 turbo and nizzy cooler on and now he's making 430.

Okay thanks guys!

I was under the impression that the smaller FG turbo had a bigger flapper or something like that making it easier to control boost spike when putting a dump.

I agree that 300 will be a huge jump from standard and even standard I love how hard it pulls! Might just stick with the cat then and once uni is finished and I have a job, full 4" exhaust and gtx
