I had problems with my car for the last week or two when reversing. I'd place the car in reverse and wait two seconds for it to drop into gear. The car would then start to roll back (level ground) as expected but when I applied throttle the car would seem to rev and then a loud clunk noise before the car would accelerate. :(

So I took the car to ford and they put it up on the hoist to find that the fluid level in the box was over full by about 1/2 litre and there was engine oil dripping from the bell housing.

After further investigation the box was declared faulty by BTR in Melbourne and a new one is on the way.

As for the oil drip the rear main seal has to be done on the motor while the box is out.

Just thought I'd post this up here so everyone can be aware of some more faults that are occuring.

Can't wait for series II hopefully they'll fix most of the common problems eg brake shudder etc.

For a moment there I thought you had the same problem I had, but mine wouldn't engage reverse at all a few times, the fluid level was OK so the dealer replaced a solenoid and it hasn't happened again.

I thought the mob who make the autos are in Albury/Wodonga?

Mine has done this probably 8 or so times without the bang, not for months though. I'm hoping whatever it was has been eliminated by my nightly "Pro Ford" prayers.

Eewwwww, obviously there is a bunch of faulty autos out there, very scarey for those of us who can't help but chase more kilowatts. To BTR or whoever they are, lift your game I say :cussing:

I have had the same problem from day 1.

It has got worse now though, it will only engage in reverse when I apply 1/4 throttle, and then it makes a loud clunk and then bang I start reversing at a rapid rate.

It's hell reversing out of my drive way as it is very tight, I have to clunk once, hop on the brakes to slow me down a bit, and use the momentum to reverse out. If I come to a stop I have to start all over again..

At first Ford said they would replace the box, now they said a rep from BTR needs to see it. And guess what there is only one in each state!!

This one is due to come back out my way in February...Guess what I'll be in Canberra in Feb..God know when he'll be down there again...

I picked up my car on 20th June, and have had this prob ever since...
