Ok so how does a US$ 4.85 app monitor transmission temp but a $50 one doesn't!!!??? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en

There must be some libraries that are written on android but not iOS.... would have thought there would be c libraries compatible with iOS more so than Java on android.... ghey

Also found this... https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/itsx/id461100848?mt=8 looks like the tune and edit thing from sct, and the dongle $US 469... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SCT-Performance-4416-iTSX-Programmer-Pre-Loaded-Wireless-Vehicle-Tuning-/200830192825#ht_2185wt_906

I wonder if it would work instead of a full xcal3

Fark the mind boggles but I doubt it would connect with our ecu in the ability to load a file in and also with the correct bus speed

But who knows

That's the one, needs the sct obd2 wifi dongle but don't know if it will work with our cars.

For those with Dashcommand - what dashboard do you use (from dashxl.net)?

With 500 to choose from, bit hard to work out whats best... looking for MAP & Gear predominantly but open to suggestions

Well.... Dash command is a piece of s**t isnt it!

Glad I only paid $6 for registration of roqybt4 - as if I'd paid $50 for the app I'd be farking pissed off too! only reporting SAE measurements, of which the BA support is very limited....

I will DEFINITELY be putting more substantial $$ towards an android device and making use of my $5 spent on the Torque app.

For anyone considering which way to go, DONT BOTHER WITH iDevices for monitoring your Ford.

Pity really, as I like my iphone & ipad as devices for everything else, but for monitoring cars, the app availability just sucks!

To add,

interestingly Palmer Performance noted in their forums that the FORD PID set will not be included in their application, and that custom PID's are not allowed by Apple to have such a feature:

Hi.

We had to remove the feature that allowed custom PIDs to be defined and run within the iPhone version of DashCommand. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party user code to be run within iPhone apps. This was a great disappointment to us but the new release contains a huge selection of new CALC PIDs that should cover the majority of the user's needs. What custom PID did you have in mind?

There's no firm plan for releasing an iPad enhanced version of DashCommand at this time. We were waiting to see if there would be a large demand for it before we committed to developing it. I guess we have your vote. If we do create a version of DashCommand for the iPad it would be compatible with all the iDevices and would simply replace the existing app and thus would be a free upgrade for existing users.

Cheers,
Pierre.

I tried running a pid scan in torque to get the trans temp pid but get an out of memory error after about 15 mins. Emailed the stack trace to the dev. Running it on a nexus 4 so memory is not an issue.

I ran this on the way to work this morning... after a 35 minute drive, the app was still running and I had to turn off the car :/ BUT I hadnt discovered any unusual responses in what data it had either.. bit disappointing

Does not do the following:

Boost (in a BA) as the SAE.MAP is not a supported PID

Has coolant temp, but not Cylinder Head Temp (ford specific)

Doesnt do ambient air temp (SAE.AAT)

Engine Oil Temp (SAE.EOT)

If all you are interested in is replicating what is on the dash (speed, revs) then its not bad, BUT I was hoping to have additional info which I cant get otherwise, Which from my research is that Torque provides this via Custom PID.

So my point is, if you have an I-device, and only want to spend $6 on roqyBT4 & some time jailbreaking your phone, its ok.

If you are going to spend $50 on the app, dont bother, spend the $$ on an android device for a far superior product ;)
