Montoring Trans Temp With Iphone

Where are you guys mounting your phones in a b series? Does the foldaway cradle from ford work ok?

I velcro mine to the dash in between icc and dash cluster lol Velcro sounds dodgy as but it holds on tight and its very easy to remove... but for taking video footage I use a phone cradle.

Best of all you dont look like an idiot camry driver with a cheapo gps mounted in the middle of the windscreen

So I did some digging around on the internet for a working PID for Transmission temps for a FG;

It seems a solution has been found on another forum and its for an existing custom PID that just requires some minor editing to work properly on the FG.

To get a working Transmission Temperature signal do the following;

  1. Open Torque and navigate to Settings, then to “Manage Extra PIDs/Sensors”
  2. Make sure you add the predefined set of PID’s for Ford (right hand side menu, select “Add predefined set” and select Ford)
  3. Find the “Transmission Fluid Temp” custom PID that already exists, select it and select “Edit”
  4. Scroll to the very bottom and find the row with “OBD Header to use (leave blank, ‘Auto’ or HEX header)"
  5. Delete the “Auto” from this field and replace it with “TCM” without the quotes
  6. Save the changes by pressing OK

Now with Torque connected to your ECU, add another display using the customised "Transmission Fluid Temp" PID and it should register the correct value.

I tested this today on my 2009 G6ET and it worked :)

Hey ccpl can you post the link to the forum where you found that?

I'm trying to work out how to get engine oil temp working. There's a custom pid for it on Torque but like trans temp it doesn't read anything for FG so im hoping a setting change might get that going too

I have trans temp working for the BTR 4 sp!!

After much trawling the Internet and trial and error I now have trans temp for the BTR to be able to be monitored via Torque:

PID: 22092C

Scale Factor: x1

Equation: (((A*256)+B)-32)*5/9

Header: <-- Blank

Thanks mate had a look at that forum and from what I read some cars have an actual engine oil temp sensor or its a sensor that only goes off at a certain temp e.g. warning temp.

Would be good to find out from someone who has it setup on a BF or Terry to confirm though.

I reckon it might be a setting on the OBD header probably similar to setting the trans temp to TCM. I actually tried setting the EOT to TCM today but it didn't do anything, test was fine but guage didn't budge.

Im getting 170 to 180 degrees which might be in farenheit? Anyone know the average temps for ZFs?

Check your unit settings and make sure that you temperature is not set to display in Fahrenheit.

I followed the steps that ccpl provided above and can monitor and log FG Trans Temp, below is a graph showing trans temp from a quick run around the block. I have never seen mine go over 85 deg C from the logs I have done.

'
