I'm in WA and got a camera ticket for 99 in a 90 zone.

Couldn't believe the fine ................................$50 and no points.

After being in Melbourne for the last 10 years and copping $125 for 64 in a 60 zone this is my slice of paradise.

Have a look at www.phantomplate.com and see the review done by Fox News & Denver Police. Photo Blocker seems to work for me as I have gone thru fixed traps and havn't received the ticket yet and from what I know most fixed traps have flash operating in the day.

The computers in the XR's are pretty accurate. I did a odometer check and the car was basically about 20m past the 5km mark (basically only out by 4 metres per km). I then put the xr on cruise control on a flat bit of road then reset the avg speed trip and it showed, consistantly, 4km below what the speedo showed ;) eg Speedo 120km/h, avg speed showed 116km/h. Even went past one of those roadwork speed checker things, doing about 65 on the speedo, it showed 61 on that speedo check.

All the to and from nelson bay, I basically set the cruise control at 120km on the speedo (so really going about 116km/h) and didn't get stopped (only saw 1 police station wagon on the highways, the whole way). I did however make sure the speedo was on 110 when passing the speed camera past Sydney, Before the newcastle turnoff. Oh and any other camera I came across, I keep the speedo limit as my guide. You never know what funny things those camera's can do.

Thanks Curious,

Yeah should have clarified about the 110 limit and yes 115 is still speeding but interesting to check some of these things regardless whilst were on Q&A time is it true that you cannot be issued a ticket from a camera if there is more than 1 vehicle in frame of the shot or is this perhaps a rumour. Sounds like I'm a real speed demon, not the case! Just interested to know!

Cheers

KATO

Yes the TIN can be issued with more than one vehicle in the photo. A template is used and it is quite clear which vehicle is detected. The camera ignores the vehicle is there is more than one vehicle in the beam at any given time so there is absolutely no chance of a mistake.
