so very keen on gettin a flutter sound. after reading 2 of the 4 stickies of the BOV section ive pretty much been brain washed that its not going to damage the turbo if I vent to atmosphere.. lol

was just about to start playing around with this.... I have a pretty stock ba xr6t 03 model. only thing that makes it not stock is a fpv intercooler and it was flash tunes of somesort (I think) by previous owner. ..

On idle with everything non touched(bov im talking) and rev to say 3000 or 4000... should I hear the BOV working.

Reason im asking is.. I feel like car is lacking in power. like my boost isnt working 100%

anything I can go and check? thanks in advance guys

Charlie

the thing is when im driving and I let go of throttle quick at say 3000 I can hear a quiet teh teh teh

might chuck a boost guage to test it out. when u say boost.. u mean the turbo.. sorry my lackof knowledge with turbos is pretty basic. Ive only usually had v8's

and should I get a bov sound on idle when releasing the throttle after 3000rpm?

spinr33 thanks for that. im guessing itll just go a pschtt sound then with venting the bov to atmosphere

It also sounds like you may have an animal similar to a pigeon trapped in the engine bay somewhere ?

Check for bird droppings when parked over night.

Seriously just remove your BOV, Block up the cross over and intake with chair stoppers. At least then you get your flutter and eliminate a boost leak from your suspected dodgy BOV.

Above is correct remove bov block the 2 ports and also the little vacuum hose

Here is a thread if you need more information

I removed my BOV yesterday. 2 Chair leg ends from bunnings and some clamps, and blocked the vacuum hose with a screw. Sounds a little louder but not much flutter on stock PSI.
