I have the standard brakes. I have found them to be fine, but, I don't drive in Sydney stop start traffic, I don,t race rice between the lights, I only use them when I need them.

I have found the odd windy back road and let the beast have a run, and had to hammer the brakes when a few corners came up quick. When a roo decided to play chicken, they worked! I think these same brakes would have been inadequate for me fifteen years ago when I had to race every one else on the road and drove like a public menace, these days, they are fine.

Having said that, I have ordered the larger ones for my next T, just for piece of mind.

Paul M ,

You lucky B. How often are you changing Ts? ie Ks V Time.

U must B sweating seies 2 ? :hiwelcome:

Myself, basic brakes are just that , shudder or no shudder they are not satisfactory for pulling up one of these beasts quick enough. Go the premiums.

Shudder aside, does anyone have any real test figures for how the standard and premium brakes differ in a one-off emergency stop?

I was led to believe that in a one-off situation, there was no difference between the two in terms of stopping distance.

Pg52 of Wheels' March '03 issue states that testing done by FPV showed that after 10 stops from 100km/h, the difference between stopping distance between standard and premiums brakes was 0.8 metres.

When you buy premiums, aren't you buying resistance to fade rather than shorter braking distances in emergency situations?

I feel the standard brakes are much improved over those offered by Expensive Daewoo in SV8/SS form but after reading the caning they have got on these forums, anyone would think they were trailer brakes. How do the standards compare performance wise with AU series 1 brakes?

Am I risking lives by driving a T with standard brakes? :hiwelcome:

If I thought so, I can tell you I'd have done something about it by now.

I had an AU1 and never had a problem with the brakes. I really don't know what the fuss was about. These articles running them down were writen

by car magazines that would thrash them for hours on a closed runway, of course they would feel weak after a while.

I also owned a modified AUII and was impressed how much the brakes were improved over the AU.

Now after buying the XR6T, I find their brakes excellent compared to all AU series cars. I have every confidence that the standard brakes will do the job.

I let my Father (a 200 SX owner) drive my car the other day and after he finished telling me how quick the car was (I won't print his exact words!) He kept telling me how good he thought the brakes were.

I believe the premium brakes aren't worth the money.

Hi guys,

On the way into the office this morning (on Burwood Hwy, Wantirna, Vic) what happened to pass me by but a whitee XR6T coppa. Gave me a look and a smirk. So I decided to catch up to him for a snap with a camera I had handy. I finally caught up to him (did I mention I hit 160ms at one stage, real quick...... :smilielol::whistle:).

Excuse the photo quality, speed @ road bumps do not help.

But I noticed it had a nice exhaust note coming from the rear, louder than standard. Can anyone varify what the Vic police get done to the exhaust or intake. As I have read other posts that a second cold intake gets you a louder/nicer exhaust note.

Just thought some of you may be interested. :smilielol:

Cheers

So, you were driving while taking the picture ? lucky he didn't see you for that or else he would have pulled you over.

I suppose at least it wasn't a SLR camera where you would have needed to place your eye inth the view finder :smilielol:
