The spigot bearing was not replaced!!! I can see the grease on the inside of the wheel.

The baseplate is not straight, same with the flywheel. It's been very hot for this to happen.

Did the clutch shudder?

Also, why was the ring gear welded? They just need heating up and fitting on the wheel.

Well he thought he replaced it by taking the old one out and putting the new one in.

But obviously he is mistaken because you said so.

Ring gear is stich welded because it can be.

When you were offering advice on install (as you do) you mentioned this probably 5+ times so I definately made sure it happened.

Not wanting to be smug, but I take some pleasure in reading this again. Either the original bearing was not replaced, or replaced with a factory item as opposed to the one supplied.

I'm not saying this is the whole reason for the issue, but it's a major contributing factor. It's the sole reason why instructions are provided, but why do so many mechanics think they do not need them?

My mistake. I was thinking of the ring gear when mentioning using oxi. But clutch didnt fail because I misspoke.

So secret ingredient to the success of my clutch is a spigot bearing that's had all the lubrication washed out of it and run dry?

I do remember now he replaced the one supplied because it felt like it was about to seize when turned with your fingers. He showed me and I said get a new one.

I deal with bearings every day at work and would make that call everytime when putting something "brand new" together. And im not even a mechanic.

Maybe in the instructions you need to tell the mechanic why they need to use your bearing that feels half seized.

But now, Im willing to accept that's part contributed to the clutch failing. I dont see how, but they are your instructions so yer.

My clutch should be out this weekend . I've had nothing but trouble at work last few weeks so my car is just pushed into the back corner .. :-(

Staino that clutch looks horribly wrong. I know you are anti mal wood but if I was you I'd be sending that somewhere to get check for what was wrong. It might just be the photos but to me looks like either something is all over the the clutch or it was horribly out of alignment somehow.
