They are Expensive Daewoo clutches

??? What are Expensive Daewoo clutches???

How about the organic/copper combo NPC use on there 550kw clutch

I hear its the goods in a big way

your thoughts on this paul ?

We use the same clutch discs as fitted to the NPC twin plate which are composite organic. They are mainly organic with a copper ribbon through the material.

MWA opt 5 has the copper/organic facings included

Correct

Fail

Fail... Care to elaborate? I would have thought if you are going to contribute to this discussion, you would right something meaningful and within context of what we are discussing.

The opt5 has the copper organic combo.

Fail for luke as in two of his opt5 have failed.

Expensive Daewoo clutch because holdens seem to be the only things not frying them.

Bad comparrison using your Late model camira with opt3+ as example.

Stainless - Fail at reading! If you actually ready my post properly, my work ute is fitted with an Option 3... Rated for 350RWKW. Going by what you have been saying, that the clutches are failing with MUCH less power than what they are rated for, yet my ute with 125,000k's on it, which gets driven hard, and this clutch hasn't let go!

Paul would or have you and mal wood ever tried woven carbon metallic as a composite ?? Could this work ?

No, we haven't tried these materials...

I spoke to Doug from NPC at great length about this particular clutch today.

I will quote a few things he said

The Option 5 Twin Plate can hold 550RWKW...

3 things determine the power a clutch can hold. Diameter of the clutch plate, friction material and clamp of the pressure plate. The Option 5 ticks all these boxes!

He also said, it comes down to its manner of operation... Get off the clutch pedal asap, then it will have full clamping pressure and then get on the go pedal!

For Lukes car, he suggested x2 10 pad cerametallic discs. It won't be as nice and fluffy on the street, but it will do what you want on the track. How long did your original clutch last?

Also, do FG's have a clutch pedal assist spring? I know in early VE's (cue Stainless's comment) they had an issue with the clutch pedal sticking to the floor. They replaced the clutch master, slave, flywheel and clutch.

So the min I hit the track and my opt5 slips with well under the power limit I was told it can handle use will tell me to piss off because it has seen track time?

Ensure the clutch has been bedded in, drive it properly, and it should not fail. Abuse it, slip it, and there is a fair chance it will not like it.

Rosie who is a member of these forums has an Option 5 in his XR6T. He does regular track meets, and drives his car fairly hard. It used to be a daily driver. We removed his clutch to fit another and we found it was in excellent condition. All we did is replace the plates and on his way! There were no hot spots on the flywheel, a few on the intermediate plate, but for a car driven in Sydney traffic it was very impressive.

I also see no one has commented on the Turbo ED.. I suppose that might have been a lucky Option 5 that slipped through and worked!! :S

Is your work ute a ford xr6 turbo?

No, but Mal has an XR6T ute? Why does it matter if MY ute isn't a turbo?

I have had that for awhile too, gave that a hiding at PowerCruise, and while it was doing daily duties. We pulled it all apart when doing the head change in Dec 2011..

All I want to no is how much power can the opt5 take? Mal on here has said it will take 600+rwkw with ease, you personally paul have told me it will take 600+rwkw which im aiming for. Your site says it will take 500+rwkw and you just said then it will take 550rwkw:s

A few people on here have killed there opt5 with under 400rwkw but have not commented on wether or not they have got in contact with use after the cl.utch has sh*t it self. Also which ED are you speaking of?
