Clutch Slipping On My Fg Xr6T, 35000Km, Normal Wear And Tear!

My FG XR6T has been having clutch issues for some time. It is now slipping but ford have indicated that it is wear and tear..............

I suspect that the clutch slave cylinder has been faulty, and has cuased the clutch to slip. At times the pedal has stuck down for a few seconds, resaulting in the pedal hitting me in the bottom of the foot.

Any one else had issues with slow pedal relaes?

If you still live up north then everything will be wear and tear, although they did come good on the rust repairs on mine.

Would it help if you got the slave cylinder independently checked?

Yep still up north. I will have a look at the slave cylinder when they pull the gearbox out. Apparently they are a plastic slave, which I have experianced before, and they are pron to problems. I dont know why manafacturers insisit on using plastic / phenolic parts in brake and clutch systems as they have proven to increase parts sales..........oh just realised why the do it!

If you are having CSC issues, you should see the clutch fluid reservoir falling/dropping. Failure generally leads to fluid fouling the clutch. Which will result in slip. If no fluid loss I'd say your clutch is stuffed from poor fitment/ driving .

Not always, plastic csc's can jam and reduce the clamping pressure on the clutch
