oh god oh god oh god... a cobra "builder" really mate, no disrespect to you but your idea is strange to say the least.

you have this wacky idea of pulling air through an intercooler at idle, what is going through an intercooler at idle? Well done there is air going through there, how much air is going through there? not a great deal, add to this your fan is sucking in whatever the ambient temperature is.

Honeslty, will you get lower intake temps? possibly, how much lower? not enough to make noticeable power difference. The most effective "cheap" mod you can do to lower intake temps, is use your spray bottle but run metho in it instead. also duct everything properly, airflow can escape from the sides of your cooler (no idea how much on xr6's) but proper ducting causes a ramming effect, forcing all available air into it

Source: mechanic for years running cars in Carrera cup, targa Tasmania, and historic events. At targa we were running an MPS 3 and RX8 SP, the SP was running a metho injecton controlled via the microtech and the 3 (being in showroom) was sprayed at every stop with about a litre of metho and water combination

Loss id say

Yeah probably

LOL, actually that is disrespect.

The idea is to cool down the intercooler itself as much as possibly so that we are getting cooler air for launch.

I dont know, I have not seen or heard of anybody testing it in anything other than 4x4. Would not increase peak power on a dyno but might increase available power at launch.

Are you suggesting 100% metho for the street? Agreed it would be more effective but I'm a little worried about potential fire risk. A 10% mix has been suggested in this thread (or was it the water spray thread) and I was going to try that. Ducting is a great idea and I am working on shrouding between intercooler and rediator (so the rad fans help pull air through). I had not thought of making a ram type setup for the intercooler. Would that be as simple as blocking off any areas say around the radiator where airflow might sneak past into the engine bay?

ac shuts down under wot

Did not know that. any idea why?
