Driveline lash makes smooth downshifts (particularly 3rd to 2nd) and then slow acceleration very difficult (eg in heavy traffic), which won’t be improving the driveline lash!4. Acceleration at constant throttle feels like engine is going thro several distinct stages of power application (steps rather than smooth as it used to be when younger)7. Occasional failure to start at first turn of ignition key, then requires fair bit of cranking to startHey!!! did you just photocopy the list that I gave to my dealer? Guest Rusty72 Guests Posted 12/11/07 07:35 AM Share Posted 12/11/07 07:35 AM Hi all,I'm new to this forum. I've had a BAII XR6 Turbo Manual for 2 years. I noticed backlash in the driveline immediately after picking up from the dealer. I raised this with the dealer and they came back to say 'within normal limits' according to Ford. Which is apparently is ".013-.025?" Mine was .017I've just had the 30000km service done and I reckon its got worse.Has anyone had any luck with getting this 'backlash' problem resolved by Ford under warranty?I also got RACQ to do a vehicle inspection, and they dfinitely agreed that Ford should be fixing the problem under warranty, and the backlash would be considered 'SEVERE'.I hope to hear from some of you soon.Rusty Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/8349-25000km-and-some-problems/page/2/#findComment-594967 Share on other sites

It's a standard "feature" with the 6 speed manual sedans.... I can't believe they are actually allowed to sell them like that. The best thing to do is adjust your driving style to suit the dodgey Australian engineering. I too had a lot of " Backlash " from new. I did reduce the Sparkplug gap from the factory set 1.1mm down to .9mm and it now much better. Some T owners with higher Boost Pressures go down to .8mm. Try it, and see if it works for you. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/8349-25000km-and-some-problems/page/2/#findComment-594988 Share on other sites

Its really disappointing that Ford will not do anything about this problem. I was thinking about upgrading the XR6T to a Typhoon or GT, but Ford can get knotted if they think they'll get my ongoing business.Everyone of us that has had this problem should rally Ford, unless you've already done so? I'm intending on taking the matter forward. Ford should never underestimate the power of mass media, and they need to weigh us the cost of customer satisfaction against bad press. What a shame... Other than that the car has been great!Rusty Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/8349-25000km-and-some-problems/page/2/#findComment-594992 Share on other sites
