Hi guys,

I am a new member here and have a few questions, which I am hoping youll be able to give me the kind of anwsers which will make me make the change over from subaru to ford. currently I have a wrx making about 180kw ATW and can run a 12.7 @ 107, while I love the rush I get from driving the rex im getting older and lazier and am looking for a bigger easier car to drive (I want to swap from manual to auto and maybe go abit more comfy in the suspension department) anyways ive narrowed the choice between and xr6t and a Late model camira SS V8. at this stage im heading towards the xr6t as there a few things putting me off the SS.

now for my questions :)

1. does anyone with premium brakes have the shudder problem?

2. what sort of quarter mile time/mph are people getting with the various mod packages out there in the region of 280-300 kw at the flywheel (basically after a real world comparison to what my current car will do)

3. is anyone having probs with the auto transmision and also have around the 300kw power mark

4. average fuel economy obtained in mostly city driving.

5. anyone care to share good/bad xr6t purchasing/servicing stories with dealerships in adelaide (pm me if you dont want to make anything public)

im sure ill have plenty more questions depending on the responses I get, ive been reading lots of posts over the last 4 days and have found alot of good info so far.

thanks

Pete.

well for one, the fuel economy will be cosiderably less than the SS.

a friend has an LS1 calais and gets approx 17L/100km how much better than that ?

factory claimed figures are always crap no matter which make or model that's why im asking for real world figures if people have been keeping track of milage etc. :)

Pete.

Welcome Snapper!!

Have a good look around here - there's lots of positives and less negatives (comments that is)

Always belive in going in with your eyes open. These two threads summarise most of the "known" faults.

Everyone here has their own point of view (to which they're entitled), so read as much as you can and then form your own view!

thanks blower, I had already read both those posts and nothing of real concern there, its a fact of life that not every car that comes from the factory is perfect and if u get one its just something you have to deal with, just be thankful not every second motor is a piston slapper like early LS1 motors and EJ20 subaru engines

After 25'000k's trip computer reads 13.6 mainly easy city driving with occasional traffic light fang, no leaks, no stalls, no driveline shunts/clunks or anything, only probs brake shudder, heat shield rattle, steering rack greased, total time off road inc servicing around 6 hours. Absolutely love it will be trading/selling shortly for a new one with same(best) colour.
