having an interesting run lately ....

Sunday ..... Melbourne/Mt.Dandenong .... 10am'ish ... strong winds

swwwwwooooooooossssshhhhhhhhh THUD thud ... half a freakin gum tree

oh well ... I can live with this ... who needs a carport or roof ??

but the tree nearly hit the ute :ta: ... the carport beams broke under the load and deflected the branches (bless those beams  )

the other half of the tree is still standing but it has been weakened where the half split off

(talking about a 100' gum splitting into a 100' remnant and dropping a 60' long section on the roof)

today I try to organise the insurance etc etc ... but I was getting nervous about what was left of the existing tree

I do some researching ....

I find out that the base of the tree turns out to be 300mm in next doors property .... never ever noticed it before

I want to cut it down, but need to get the local council's permission to my neighbour who can permit me to cut it down ....

insurance company says that it would not cover me if the rest of the tree falls on the house (as I am supposed to have had time to do something about it)

and .... here is the twist

my neighbours won't help and tell me I'm trouble making :spit:

there are some real ferrils in these hills :ta:

I'll sleep well tonight :hrmm:

Might be time to move... Hamilton Is. is nice, although you will have to put a turbo on a golf buggy as cars are not aloud.

Make a complaint to the council about the safety of the tree. They will be responsible then if they don't ensure it's safety and it falls after they have been notified of the potential hazard.

Otherwise drill a hole in the trunk and squirt a BIG syringe of roundup in there!

Just do it in the middle of the night, use a bit and brace, not a electric or cordless drill!

Drill below the grass/ground line!! ;)

Wear all black....... :o

Admit to..........sh!t....!!!! :o

Push the tree over on to your neighbour's house while nobody's looking. Then you can say to them, "Hey, I tried telling you that we needed to get rid of the tree. But did you listen?"
