hypnodoc I think its probably to late for me to take my unichip off.

.

Owna I remember reading your other post. I have also read that other people have had up to two transmissions replaced without mods, and now there is a Ford Dealer in Newcastle modifying Ts up to 300kW and giving warranty. Ford are also happy to have Herrod products sold through their outlets, and in doing that they have shot themselves in the foot regarding no warranty on aftermarket powerups. Don't forget, Today Tonight and A Current Affair journalists are hassled every morning to find stories. If you ring channel 9 ACA, or Channel 7 T T, in Sydney they would probably get your dealer to change his mind quick smart, there is no way FMC will let a negative expose about the BA make the headlines, and then again theres the brakes, the stalling etc from other reports. All of this would make excellent "Throw Job" TV. I know this because an associate used to be a producer for ACA. Mate give it a go and you could be quite suprised. There is also nothing illeagle about parking your T outside a dealership with a big LEMON sign on the roof and an arrow pointing into the dealership. I did that once to a Expensive Daewoo dealer in Qld over a lemon VR Commodore, it took them 23 minutes to appease me. You spent a lot of money, you are entitled to a lot of warranty. Give the ba$tards Heaps, I know I would

Problem is I live in sydney and the dealer that denied me warranty is in newcastle, probably the same dealer offering 300kw upgrades. I am very busy and basically I have already spent the money to repair the problem. I went into c & v to get the presure increased but my trans was too far gone and after flushing the system and finding chunks of metal in my trans and increasing the pressure just caused it to give in thus losing third gear, I was put on the spot a week befor christmas, thought fighting it would be no use and even if I did win it would have taken ages thus leaving me with no car for a while. so I said fix it guys. this problem is giving me a sick gut. cost me a packet. but I would love to find more about dealers offering these power upgrades and I will definatly be keen to see today tonight or a current affair about this, the public needs to know about this maybe they will reinburse me for the money it cost me to reco my box. im probably wishful thinking though.

anyway thanks for the ideas!

5,000 k's with my stage 1 & no dramas, not many days go by without a full 2nd gear acceleration through to mid 3rd gear & many 1st gear hard runs.

Hi XR6_Turbo_Phase II

Can you please anwser a few questions for me.

How are you finding the Phase II upgrade?

Is the idle better after the upgrade ( Smoother ) ?

Have you noticed any oil consumption due to the increase in power ?

Would you recommend the upgrade?

Are you happy with the power increase and have you had any problems after the upgrade.

Cheers

Hi Ahiles,

I am more than pleased with my Phase II upgrade - absolutely no regrets. Under normal driving, the only noticable difference is a slightly deeper exhaust note - it even idles like a stocky. I wouldn't say smoother, because it was smooth before the upgrade. My wife is comfortable driving the car to take it shopping, and her car is a Diahatsu Terios! That's how stealth (to quote Peter Luxom) the car really is. (Note: not only has my wife now changed her opinion on the car, but she now wants one herself - with a Phase II

I haven't noticed any increased oil consumption as yet. What I have noticed, however, is the temperature is slightly higher at all times - marginally more on hotter days. It's not above the half way mark, just a little higher, but that's typical of turbos.

Under more agreesive driving, the upgrade is more than evident - the car changes personality completely. The acceleration and sound under throttle, especially above 3500rpm, is amazing. Seriously, when you nail the throttle, the car moves as if though it was only half it's weight. Accelerating out of corners is amazing...but you'd want to be a damn good driver to go anywhere near the limit of of a corner, even in the dry with slicks.

I would easily recommend the Phase II upgrade, and have nothing but praise for APS. Sure, the may be companies out there claiming greater power for far less money, but I love my car and wouldn't want to leave it in the hands of tuners with 5 mins experience, with no R & D, and with no wholistic approach to power gains without strenthing all the other components of a vehicle. I would, however, also strongly recommend anyone thinking of upgrading to a Phase II to complete an Advanced Driving Course. I've done 2 and believe me I'm glad I did.

As I mentined earlier, I will be upgrading to Phase III shortly. I won't however, proceed until this can be done in conjunction with transmission, drivetrain and brake upgrades. If you like,I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

Hope this helps mate.

Cheers

Dave

p.s This may be unpopular in this forum, but I'm 'ricing' the car up. I'm working with a fibreglass manufacturer on a unique street tough body kit that will change the character of the car's exterior, just as the Phase II has done to the performance. It will be a bold look that will signal the cars capabilities, without being ridiculously wild to be laughed at.

I am Australian, own two companies, 31 y/old, married with a 6 yr old boy and 4yr old girl and therefore am not your typical teenage ricer. I do however recognise nice cars and appreciate the effort their owners go to in personalising and tuning them. I think it's sad that 90% of these cars on the road are Asian Grey Imports. Why? Because they are great cars and they are affordable. Also, because there hasn't been an Australian Car that could meet this market (let's be honest here, it's a growing market. Just have a look at the Newsagents stand - Autosalon, Speed, etc etc - as well at the popularity of stores like Autobahn and the like) The XR6Turbo has changed this. The number of people who have commented on the car, and typically drive souped up Celica's, Integra's, Skylines, Silvia's, CRX's etc saying the car is 'mad' and 'fully sick' and the 'only cool car made in this country', has really suprised me. I reckon if people are willing to spend so much money on a car, why do it for cars that aren't even our own. The XR6T is, and it will definately be the Aussie cult car over the next few years.

I've waffled enough.....going for a spin :P

Thanks for the info "XR6_Turbo_Phase_II"

I am looking at a Phase II once the plug in Unichip is available in February.

I asked about the idle as mine is ok, but could be a little better ( there is a slight exhaust miss now and then, but not a big deal).I though after the Phase II tuning it might run smoother.

If you could keep me posted re the Phase III ,that would be great.

Thanks again for the info.

Have a good day.

no problem will be listening when your ready,

I got my car back today, problem is fixed but the box had to be put back to its standard condition apart from the beefier oil cooler. unfortunatly no real upgrade is fully developed yet but is soon on the way they tried putting a few upgrading cmponents in but mine was the first one they have done and to avoid further problems. if only I blew my box a few months later.

the c and v T is nearly ready with their upgraded auto currently undergoing tests etc. they are going to let me know how it goes when its done. they seem very confident that they will be getting a good result, there auto guy has a real good reputation so im very keen to see the end result and how it will handle knowing what that blood orange beast gets put threw.

the question is now.

would upgrading our autos be more expensive with a box that has been fried or would it be better upgrading when ther auto is in good nick?
