Hey guys, Building my XR6T BA MkII, im aiming for 330kw... im installing a big PWR trans cooler in the hope it will keep the box going until I can save for an upgrade.

My question is: How much can the stock 4spd gearbox take before it pegs out?

Cheers
Daimo

327rwkw and 2 weeks had lathed my bands and drums to a nice metallic paste in the bottom of the box. Beefy Box before Beefy Engine if I could do it all again.

If your aiming for under 400kw then I would get the 4sp built properly by someone that knows what they are doing and it should be fine

Your best to get a cooler fitted for one, next thing is some tuners can also kill the box itself, not every tuner can make these boxes last very long, also take it to a trans shop that has done quite a few of them.

Search the forum or ask people that have had 4 speeds rebuilt.

Bayswater transmissions and Yarra Valley are the only 2 you can use with confidence in Melbourne.

Mines still going after 5 years, only broke the planateries middle of the last year and it was a $600 fix with parts and labour, nothing else was replaced as its still in great condition.
