Washed and waxed my car the other day and when it was done I noticed that most of the cars paint is orange peeled. I don't think it's a very extreme case as you can only see it from some angles however I think it's pretty sub standard for a brand new vehicle.

Does anyone know if it can be corrected and if so would it be covered under warranty?

welcome to ford motor co.

this is a more than common problem and if u try and warranty it they will re spray it the same ... not that they will probably do anything at all.

As a spraypainter of 15 years I can tell you it's supposed to be like that. The FGs actually have a pretty decent finish on them compared to some cars. Enjoy your car and worry less.

Yes all factory cars are like this, you can lightly block the car back with 1200-2000 grit depending on how

Much peel is in the paint, then buff and wax, just be careful not to rub through the clear as it is quite thin to begin with

Yes, the clear coat is measured in microns. I wouldn't attempt this if I was you. Plus long term, even if you do cut the peel back, you are also cutting back the UV protection the base coat (colour) has. Unless your car is extremely bad for some reason, which I'm yet to see an FG so bad. I would leave it as it is. Even if they would fix it under warranty, would you be happy having your whole car pulled apart and re painted? I wouldn't.

Seatons correct .. All paint thickness are measured in microns . The fg finish is pretty good considering how bad EL AU falcons were . They were completely terrible ...

Thanks everyone for all the advice. It doesn't really bothered me, as someone said when I take a step back she looks schmick anyway. I just had never noticed it before so wanted to check that my car hadn't had a dodgy paint job.

Every car iv seen now iv got right up close to check the paint and sure enough they've all got it
