if your going to any mechanic at all dont even bother with anybody apart from CMS!! go and see Joe he will fix your problem

This times a million.

One workshop charged my $550 to tune my eboost in! Car was already tuned So all it took was a couple of runs to adjust the eboost settings......

Another workshop has spent extra time on my car helping fix small issues, I have been back several times and several extra hours have been spent on my car. No extra costs.

My point is listen to what the more educated people are saying! Stop wasting your own time and extra $$$$ take it to a good shop and it will be fixed in no time. If nearby go see joe at CMS he's honest helpfull and actually give he's customers the time of day to talk and discuss things unlike other tuners who rush and are to busy to listen.

I own a xr6t 2004 ba and the idle is nuts it randomly turns off when I pull up to the lights ect and idle revs up and down

I replaced spark plugs ,I got the second coil replaced and the throttle body is supposedly not dirty.

The guy who replaced my coil told me to get it tuned.

I have a capa tuner but wondering will this work and what is the price for someone to plug it in. As I got quoted a price starting from $500 upwards to tune without my capa tuner as they dont like to use them he told me.

I was also told it could be a vaccum leak but bloody hell who knows lol.

I read a million blogs and have found about 80% of people have the same idleing problem and it never fully gets fixed in most cases.

Thanks =)

PS: Its a manual aswell

From memory I remember having a similar problem to this 4 years back, at lights it would just rev up an down an then shut off, but while driving there was no problem at all, no missing or anything like that, it came down to injector scaling, so your problem could have something to do with tune, I understand you have a capa flash tuner, I wonder if your car is tuned or if its put back to standard, anyways your best bet is to visit a tuner and with all there tools an knowledge they will get it perfect for you, I use joe from cresent motorsport he always gets it perfect for me, an his not to far from you.

Goodluck an hope you sort it out soon.

It's also hard to give advice when you haven't solved the problem yourself.

I don't know what this "turbo 101" stuff is you mention Nick, but I'd be stuffed if I'd be checking the tension on my turbo nuts to fix an idle issue.

Like Tab said, it's great you're having a go yourself, but don't tell others to play the same blind folded darts game you are.

If you fix the issue and know what actually fixed it then of course let people know.

I had a rough idle a while back, after alot of replacing parts, it ended up being faulty o2 sensors (my car didnt like non genuine sensors either, had to use proper genuine ones)

That has been my experience with bad idle anyway.

P.s - Ratter is a great bundle of knowledge from what I read/hear on these forums. If only I lived in Victoria :(
