Is it true that E85 causes mild steel exhausts to deteriorate a lot faster?

It would make sense that the mild steel exhaust would suffer slightly as E85 holds moisture.

We have not seen any real evidance of premature detiriation.

FG components also will support E85 if left standard.

As in all the lines, tank, fuel rail etc???

Yes.

FGs are equipped with stainless steel fuel rails, suitable rubbers lines and plastics. Injectors, fuel pressure regulators and fuel pumps are also suitable

All modern petrol contains a percentage of ethanol.

Knowing this recent trend, many manufactures have needed to attend to the fuel systems.

The plastics, steels and rubbers used are ethanol resistant.

This means that even if your standard factory vehicle has not been released to run E85, generally many of the components are suitable.

As mentioned above it is when non suitable aftermarket components are added that there becomes a possibility of problems.

eg, non resistant rubber fuel lines, aluminium / fuel / surge tanks / tubing and fittings, non resistant plastics, older style injectors and pumps.

Best advice is to check with the manufacturer your after market products are made of suitable materials for E85 and petrol.
