Hey guys just wondering if someone here can help me with this.

I got given the big mouth kit to fit my G6ET on Wednesday, fitted it, all good. Drove it around for work for 2 days with no issues. Then last night I noticed the engine revving weird like it hunting when driving, making a funny sound almost like little back fires, and when siting on 100ks revs meter going up and down like its trying to change gears.

Now I'm pretty sure that this must be the computer trying to adjust to now having so much more air coming in, but from what I have read the computer normally learns within 500ks or so. I've done at least 600+ ks since I've had it installed and its still running like a bag of sh*t.

Any ideas??? Is it worth resetting the computer?? Am I doing any damage to the engine driving it around like this, because it doesn't sound healthy?

Any help would be appreciated!

I can't see the big mouth part of the intake letting in all that much extra air mate.. I think your problem may be something else..

ZF milkshake a mate had this and turned out to be the heat exchanger had leaked. check to see if your coolant looks like a milkshake in the reservoir . If not remove the big mouth kit and see if it makes a difference.

Only difference is his didnt backfire but it was hunting revs at 100kays he said and it felt like it was surging wanting to shift gears all the time . Hope its not but an easy check to see if it is.

Given that yours is an '09 and if you didn't purchase extended warranty, it's going to be expensive, your trans will likely need to be rebuilt or replaced. Don't drive it, you risk further damage. Merry christmas indeed.
