Hey guys, just became a member a few days ago, interesting info you blokes put on here. Anyways, I'm about to become a owner of a brand new FG MK2 XR6T within the week (hopefully!!) Knowing this, I had this particular interesting theory put to me recently, and was wondering if you guys know whats better.

I got a mate who works with the local Ford dealer, and he seems to reckon the best way for the new turbo to perform at its maximum, was to flog the car from new. Now, I always been told to wear in any new car, as the engine parts need to wear in etc.

So, my question is, is it better to drive harder from new to achieve more power when it does wear in, or drive it sensibly for a couple thousand k's? I think honestly I would drive it sensibly, seeing as it is new, but this has been eating away at me for a good while now.

Cheers guys for any answears, be greatly appreciated!

Drive it sensibly but at the same time give it a good boot for a short amount of time every so often. That is what I'd be doing.

Bro, flog the f*ck out of it...they love it...provided it's a midweek freak lol...My mechanic was telling me a story the other day about a VG ute 5 litre that was flogged from the get go from the factory, he had done some work to a VS station wagon 5 litre, the wagon was apparently putting out 400 at the treads but he said the ute absolutely thrashed it. Plus you have warranty so if anything goes wrong warranty will cover it.

Well, gotta say, holy sh*t!!

Picked up my new turbo on thursday, and already there is no going back. That punch it has when the turbo kicks in, really unreal and addictive.

And I know its only early days, but so far there really isn't anything I can find wrong with the direction that Ford have gone in the design, for me, perfect!
