bad inferno Member 130 Member For: 19y 8m 2d Posted 15/12/12 01:08 PM Share Posted 15/12/12 01:08 PM Just looking for a base tune on the 2010 FG XR6T.. I have the GT intake/K&N + center resonator + I want to upgrade the intercooler prior to the tune next Jan. Now not chasing "real" power just an edge on what I currently have. Its a daily driver used for work and can easily justify 300 for an ebay intercooler.I see these two have slightly different port styles.. anybody know if there is any real difference..http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon-FG-XR6-Turbo-Intercooler-Upgrade-adds-Power-/261142580861?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccd4f8e7dhttp://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon-Intercooler-FG-XR6T-XR6-Turbo-New-/130585126475?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e677ae64bI assume either of these will be better than a Factory intercooler ?Rob Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/83229-opinion-on-which-one-to-choose/ Share on other sites

Build quality is shot.. Consider shopping around for a second hand PWR stepped cooler.. You get what you pay for I believe. Have you considered the need to upgrade piping as well? With increased boost in the FG the plastic oem piping has been known to fail.Benny. bad inferno Member 130 Member For: 19y 8m 2d Posted 16/12/12 04:03 AM Author Share Posted 16/12/12 04:03 AM Yeah, Its difficult when there is no agreed mid range in upgrades, or I suppose 1K for an intercooler is classed as midrange What I get out of this is: factory intercooler or 1k or wait for a second hand one to come up. Ill wait a few months and if nothing turns up might just do the tune with the stock unit. BRK Member 361 Member For: 13y 4m 4d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 16/12/12 11:36 AM Share Posted 16/12/12 11:36 AM And there you have it - temps just above ambient + throttle response - That is a great result.Gotta say, coolers may not be rocket science but getting them right in the first place does take a bit of work. Part throttle flow, pressure restrictions etc - as noted - above are part of it. The best part? Plenty of good units around and if you decide on a power figure - the choice gets easier.
