If he gets off with a small fine, demerit points and no loss of licence because we helped him/her get out of it. How has he learned his lesson.

do the time and he wont do stupid sh*t on the road....guaranteed.

So what you're saying if you've never gone over the speed limit at all?

that's not necessarily true... I know loads of people who lose licences and first thing back spend all night ripping skids and going mental

I don't believe this guy is a malicious offender and is remorseful so he does not need time with no licence to cement in the facts he already realises that he cocked up

Your making it sound like I had intent to speed, which was not the case. Sometimes we make mistakes, some more than others, but it's how we grow from these mistakes which shows our true character. I participate in group sport, both coaching and playing, have a regular gym regiment and strict diet (hell I've even lost 6kg since the offence), don't start fights when I go out, work extremely hard at my job and pay my taxes. I could understand if I was a repeat offender or known to drive recklessly, or anyone in that case.

FYI the fine was $799, which I do not believe is small, especially in regards to my Salary and it is not loss of license, only suspended license.

Thanks to those offering advice and support!

not trying to get involved in any arguments here and agree most of us have sped at 1 point or another, but I think a judge may look at a couple of klms over the limit as an accident, but 30+ would be viewed as reckless.

Any argument you offer could be seen as you having no idea about speed or control at all (most of us can sit close to a speed limit by guessing our speed)

good luck

accidentally speeding is more dangerous IMO.

Put it this way, if you choose to speed at least you know to concentrate on the road because you know you are speeding, and hopefully look for

oncoming traffic, kids,cops or whatever.

you don't climb over 30kph by mistake, again, if you do, you don't deserve a car like ours....................capiche?
