The attitude that speed limits and legislation is over the top I think it is one of the few things the law got right

If you don't agree with the limits and legislation hand your licence in

your entitled to your opinion,,, however may I remind u the op didnt post ...

"I was drifting at 118kms an hour on my phone next to a school at 3.30pm during school pick up and then ripped a fat skid and got pulled over and it was so bullsh*t"

in that case I see your point...

its not an excuse for speeding but just out of curiousity,, do you know how many deaths and fatalities are attributed to speed alone as a factor,,,, not as many as our revenue making government lead us to believe that's for sure...

again... not condoning his actions but I believe people are being a little harsh...

may I also remind u of those adverts on tv where they clearly show tht in a suburban street doing even 5 kms over the limit is enough to kill a child and change the outcome and stopping distance of the accident... 5 or 30... speeding is wrong.... I hope none of u do gooders have ever crept over the speed limit!!! better set your cruise to 49 in side streets or your a dirt hypocrite

those in glass houses???

annnnnnnnnnnnnd let's all take a deep breath and remember this is just the interweb and none of this shit really matters. Perhaps a walk around the block outside in the free air might be a good thing?

And again :cleanhouse:

Let me enlighten you people as to what is going on here.

Nice and friendly moderator (I.e. me) is trying to encourage informative conversation and debate.

Not so nice and friendly moderator (I.e. Ralph) probably thinks this is a futile exercise as people are usually f’wits and can’t manage a decent conversation on a heated topic like this and probably wants to just close the thread and be done with it. If it weren’t for the fact that the nice and friendly moderator was involved then this probably would have already happened.

Now the problem is that nice and friendly moderator is becoming a bit jaded lately with the extreme amount of pathetic bulsh*t, so while he really wants to keep topics open he may just lose his sh*t and start warning and suspending people for being tools after being asked nicely to stop. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that.

Look.. My biggest thing here goes back to the OP's first post.. He admitted he phucked up.. I believe we had one of these not long ago where someone got done for DD and their first post they admitted they buggered up but were just inquiring about the expected sentence.

I'm willing to admit (And remember a huge part of my job is road safety) that I got pinged once doing 37 over in a 60 zone.. Oddly enough I tell that story online everyone will flame me. What alot of people miss is that every persons circumstances are different.. I was lucky to get away with 6 points and $350 (This was prior to anti-hoon laws).. But why on earth would I be doing that much over in a 60 zone? Council had just amended their signs.. I came off the back of an 18 hour shift.. I turned onto the straight on the way to my house (rural road outside of town), council had shifted the 100 sign to the other side of the intersection when it used to be at the start of the straight.. I was driving an AUII V8 Sportsman Fairlane.. Unmarked cop car coming the other way even admitted she got me about 5 metres before the 100km/h sign.. I even attempted an appeal based on my (then) immaculate driving history and that they'd changed the signs. This is when I found out that changing speed signs isn't an excuse (but you can be warned by the booking officer at their discretion), as drivers are meant to be paying attention to the roadside environment.

But on topic to the OP, I can also say that driving a 4x4 Triton Dual Cab for work, when I drive home I hit about a 7% downgrade in a 90 zone.. If I'm puttering along with cruise control set I will be doing 120+ at the bottom of that hill.. It happens.. Unfortunately, driving history or not you'll probably cop a fine still.

Also anyone who wants to argue that a speed zone is incorrect.. Take a few photos one day, post them here, measure the lane widths, tell me where it is on google earth and I bet I can explain exactly why that speedzone was chosen. There are hundreds if not thousands of different reasons for speed zoning.. and revenue isn't one of them..
