GTEXXED Banned Banned 910 Member For: 12y 3m 20d Gender: Male Posted 12/12/12 09:28 AM Share Posted 12/12/12 09:28 AM I remember over a year ago my turbo blew up and I was the first in our state and maybe everywhere for our cars to try one,allot of people on a few forums were waiting for results,A fair few said it was also a waste of time didn't they jet and that I should just stick with the std BA item,all I could say is it looks the goods specs wise and I will report back.Even with the taller 1st gear in the 4spd she still gets on boost the same and pulls much harder up top. Gold Donating Members 23,708 Member For: 16y 5m 10d Gender: Male Location: Adelaide Posted 12/12/12 10:16 AM Share Posted 12/12/12 10:16 AM GTX is definately a " new technology " turbo and its getting better and better results but for 16psi it would be at very simular spec wise to the stock 35/40 so iam not seeing any gain there ( unless u can prove the IT's are dramatically lower but as I said its only at 16psi in your case ) its the upper limits where the GTX 82 really starts to pull away from the stock 3540. we all know the stock 3540 is efficiant to approx 23 psi a beez dick either way and with a cooler kit it can be tuned to decent power, so again people changing turbo's at low levels seems like a big over kill for the desired goalanyone can change a turbo and if uve smashed your old one yeh if the $$$ is the same definately get it, but for the pure pourpose of " iam gunna ghange my turbo to get to 400" its a waste of time IMHOits like that time u put the fg xr6 turbo on your ba and had negitive results........................it was just the set up because weve seen the stock " small turbo" get up to the 127mph range so its been proven.the current op 's question I feel now is old tech with the GTX avaliable for not much more coin and better all over results, as said more lag down low makes the 4.0 a pig where as stock or GTX82 will run rings around the upgrade at minda coupla years ago it was one of the better way 's to go but now we have new better turbo's avaliable and bulk R&D done.. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
