So I have had a bit of a read around and haven't been able to find much so was hoping you guys could help me.

My BA xr6t ute auto is having issues with the breaks when going speeds <100km. Usually happens if I'm doing 110+ and as soon as you break a little, it feels like the breaks almost stick and I get a horrible shudder through my car. It

doesn't usually stop until I slow down to 50-60.

I have have disks, pads and wheel bearings all replaced. 160,xxx k's on the car. Also got my wheels balanced(made it drive a heap better but still have this issue.

What did you change to rotors and pads to?

On the BAs check the front and rear brake lines are not damaged. Ford did an actual TSR as the brake lines are short and over time develop splits.

I had shudder that went away after replacing with dba 4000 slotted rotors and Bendix heavy duty pads with a balance. I've also replaced my front brake lines because the front right had developed a split and was weeping.

Hope that helps.

to check my hoses I just rang my ford service center and gave them my vin no. lo and behold they were changed in 2009, so kebab its just a 5 min phone call to check that the hoses have been changed. I aslo have mine booked in to check the booster screw adjustment as ive been told by ford that it was common on the ba's to cause dragging due to to much pressure $55 quote + parts.

Lower ball joints are a problem as well as bushes that Ralph spoke of. Get a "decent" front end specialist to have a look.

Brakes holding on after application in BA's is a faulty brake booster. I used to work for Ford, and saw this problem VERY regularly. The internals of the booster become 'sticky' with age and will hold the brakes on ever so slightly.

Booster screw adjustment will not fix this issue. It requires reconditioning. :)

Great info Darren. Just changed my booster out today, what a difference. . Had that exact issue most times not too bad but very slightly not fully returning. Occasionally would hold slightly more. Previous owner had adjusted previously.
