Walbro Intank V 044 And Surge

Its more aimed at b series the stock intank is getting on on years and the cradle set up is not as good as fg (b series suffer more surge) its an item that costs $200 and whats the point in having a fire hose connected to a garden tap ?

Its cost a few blokes an engine with the assumption that the surge tank has them safe guarded, b series stock pumps are only ok just and because they are so cheap why bother with a 5year old small pump to feed a $1100 surge tank

A surge will only be as good as the lift pump feeding it after a few pulls (even on a dyno )

Agreed! If your going to spend money and put new injectors and a new surge tank into a car why not complete the system and fit a proper lift pump as well? For this guys requirement an intank pump is fine but a surge tank with a single 044 with a new intank pump is the best way to go.

You could get a away with 350-370RWKW on 98 or 100 octane using a single pump or dual pump surge tank and a standard lift pump if you want to be a tight ass but that's about as far as I would push it.

My Walbro was all done with at 333rwkw,were other ways to get more out of it but don't roll like that.Just adding the surge tank with no tune had the car going better everywhere.

Was your car starving of fuel (surging) or was it just running lean? At 333 it wouldnt of been starving of fuel. I would say you were seeing 13.0+ AFRs right?

im going for a good intank because

1. its cheaper

2. I only want 350rwkw (link above shows a bigger pump is very benifical)

3. I dont drive it hard often

4. the only time I have less than half a tank is when im doing a long trip (I dont think crusing at 1900rpm needs a surge tank) And

5. I just dont want a surge tank in the engine bay

I did a surge tank in my UTE because the cost of install factor makes the surge & 044 good value and is much better, although my ute never surged with 300 at any level, a walbro wouldn't what I wanted.

Another bonus is when selling rip it off and keep it or sell it.

Going through this myself atm. If the KPM Walbro unit wasn't so expensive I'd probably buy that. But at only a few hundred difference between it and the P/W surge +044 combo, that's a better option I think. That, or muck around with the Walbro kits that you've got to plumb yourself.
