You'd be Bongo to pass that offer up. Auto or manual? Don't break the 5 speed!

After my experience with my BA, unless this ones well looked after and has had money spent on it I'd walk away.

Problems I had:

brake shudder (fixed by replacing booster in my case). Rotors replaced three times in a year along with I forget how many pads, If it has shudder get it diagnosed correctly!!

diff bush

turbo bearing (noisy on shutdown) and shaft play if you can take the intake pipe off the front of the turbo to check id recommend it.

ball joints (all of them)

wheel bearings (front)

alternator failed

power steering pump (failure)

boost solenoid needed replacing

engine mount(s) are stuffed (I havent fixed this yet)

auto trans still has lines going through radiator which gives me the chance of a milkshake when the auto trans fluid and coolant mixes (need a external trans cooler).

heater core has been replaced, TWICE in my cars life, luckily not me that's done this, It was on ford's service record of my car.

4 spd or 5 spd manual is the other issue, Get a 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual (BA mk2 has 6 speed manual in some or all of them but I'd go BF to be safe).

Has around 160,000kms on the odometer.

At least one other problem I can list is it has an issue with rear tyre wear! :3gears:

+1 on ball joints and bushes at that amount of kays.

Touch would I haven't had the long list of problems that the above poster has suffered and I have almost clocked up 215,XXXkms.

Service history is imperative and it might also give you an insight on how well the car has been looked after.

Go a BA mkII, a BF or at the very least get an NRMA/RACV check on this one.

Sounds like a good pick up and if you were chasing a BA you would be mad to pass it up. Is it auto or manual?

Sorry about the late reply guys but I have been very busy & had no PC time until today.

It's an Auto, & I ended up getting her for $7 thousand with 12 months Rego.

I know it's an old car but I have a soft spot for the BA & it drives like it was new, so I will keep it for a while & drive it until it gets about 40,000 k's on the clock then I will sell it.

I have also got a low mileage (60,000 klm's) supercharged BA xt with a Sprintex s5-335 blower fitted.. It has a slightly strengthened 4.0 motor, decent exhaust from manifold to tail pipe, tricked suspension, bigger brakes, beefed up Transmission & diff. It also has a sweet Gold with Black trimmings GT look alike kit on the outside & it looks mean as hell.

It blows the xr6 Turbo away but it sure does drink some fuel..

If its already registered then yes it can and will always be able to have rego.

Ripppppoffff if u ask me! For that price, spend another 2-3k n buy a private one that isn't on REVS.

The only time I used to buy a car that was on REVS was it had to be cheap, atleast 5k below private cost and if I knew I would keep the car longer than 5years.
