Looking at buying either a ba/bf xr6t and wanting to not spend anymore than 12k. Preference is lower kms but not really sure on reasonable prices and what to look for. Currently looking at these two cars. This one is modded with low kms (note, he said he would get everything fixed up and probably sell around 10.5-11k) http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ford-Falcon-2004/SSE-AD-4188252/?Cr=2 Second one is stock apart from heavy duty clutch. Higher kms and seems tad over priced? (He seems to not want to go much lower than 12k) http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ford-Falcon-2005/SSE-AD-2405672/?Cr=3 Any advice would be much appreciated. Does the guy have reciepts? where was the work done on it? Imo keep looking for a late model 07 BF there out there for around the 10k. Roo32 Member 68 Member For: 8y 2m 16d Posted 02/11/16 12:59 AM Share Posted 02/11/16 12:59 AM Thanks mate. I would get it inspected thoroughly first and have a good look myself. Yeah he does, the majority of the work was done at Chachis Automotive repairs in Victoria. (Not sure if anyones every heard of them?) There was an 07 BF Mk2 for sale recently in Sydney for 11k with only 77k on the clock however it was auto (I know the 6 speed box is quality just keen on a manual). Would something like that if it pops up again be a goer? Cheers

Id def want to take it to the shop that tuned it and get them to look over it before buying. In saying that id pass and look for something newer and with little to no mods. each to there own I spose. Im in NSW and never heard of that place tbh

Anythings in particular to look for? Yeah I am constantly looking. Just difficult finding one with low kms and reasonably priced. Cheers

Cheers Stay away from BA model all together, dont even bother with them at all mate. The one with the "supposed" fpv engine is a upgrade if all is true?? Remember these engines are built to last to 1 million km if looked after so to me anything under 200km in great condition with a relatively solid service history is worth a look... resale value in 5yrs or so wont change much as they will become rare as fark now that none are made new!! The turbo xr models from 02-06/06 are poor internally and dont like much power above 320rwkw.. some have gone 380+ but very rare. Honestly best looking for 07 BF or a FG. 06/06 onwards has the B series fpv engine internals including FG and many hhae seen 450+rwkw with the right mods and the right tune shop doing the job.
Roo32 Member 68 Member For: 8y 2m 16d Posted 02/11/16 02:20 AM Share Posted 02/11/16 02:20 AM Cheers mate. I wouldn't be chasing any massive power if I bought a stock car but still avoid the BA even mk2s? But ideally I suppose a BF Mk2 would be preferable just seem hard to find. And yeah its apparently got the typhoon engine in it. Will need to suss it out closely. Know anywhere good in Adelaide for getting the car tuned and modded? I only really know of KPM and no idea how good they are. Cheers
