You seem to be missing the point... The gear knob and water leaks are easy fixes and they have no dramas with that, when it comes to engines we take photos and present them the evidence, they then make the call... As a dealer we have no choice but to do what they say, remember the engine is still fully covered under warranty if something was to fail... The tiny marks in the piston (about 4mm long and 2mm wide on each intake valve recess) will not be detrimental, BUT, if something were to happen down the track theyd have to replace it. If it was my personal car and it was out of warranty id reuse the pistons. But also if my car had 4000ks on it I wouldnt want any marks in the pistons... Its not our call

The criticism isn't towards you or your dealer mate its directly pointed at Ford customer care who make these decisions. Dont need to defend yourself, youre doing as youre told which I think we all agree is complete f*cking rubbish..

So Bionic, let me get this straight....

You work for Ford? So you're telling me instead of replacing a faulty long motor which shows obvious signs of damage you have been told to do a half ass job, patch it up and get the guy off your lot.... Right?

I regret selling my SS more than ever now. When that car had issue they were fixed quickly and with no questions and the car always came back in better shape.

SO ANGRY!!

Where was is suggested that the issue wasn't resolved quickly or the car din't come back in better shape

my experience with warranty work on my modded ford has been a lot better than with my stock holden

my ford has had one service at the dealer, the Expensive Daewoo was always serviced at the dealer

The car came back with warrant-able damage that wasn't fixed due to cost cutting. Whether its noticeable or not as Bionic stated the pistons had score marks in them. You would obviously be OK if your basically brand new car bent valves, damaged pistons and they weren't replaced?

I wouldnt be. Plus, this isn't Expensive Daewoo v Ford. I made that point to demonstrate my frustration in both manufacturers as I sold my Expensive Daewoo for the same reason.

Nothing worse than being "Piggy in the middle"...

I'd still let the owner know though so he/she can then choose to action it or not via alternate means (newspaper, tv, etc)

Don't go weak at the knees about the euro stars....... ask the VW people about golf gearbox issues - and the audi owners - same deal - a merry go round of excuses.

Toyota - yep usually no issues with them ........ my old man came out of fords into camrys and never regretted it ....... but just a shade ho-hum.

As for the issue at hand........... it is a bit of a joke on the owner to cop even half of this stuff........ and you have my sympathy BTW..

Hence why I just bought a Toyota...

I'll buy another ford/fpv. like 99.99% of people on this forum I work in australia, so I choose to support those who support me. buying an imported car might help your pocket in the short term but it's only going to hurt in the long run. it makes me sick to think that our government buy sweet f.a. of their fleet cars from Expensive Daewoo and ford anymore, yet they throw bail out packages at them? wtf?... I mean where do I start on this issue? orange farmers from griffith are pusing their orchards out because tight arse 'aussies' won't spend an extra 10 cents a kilo to support their countrymen. we choose to save the money and buy 3 month old oranges from brazil. then the farmers won't spend the extra money at the local clothes shop in town because they didn't make any in the first place.. this country is going down the gurgler because we won't support our own. I hope you toyota/vw/whatever the import is that you buy or support feel the pinch soon
