The gear knob and water leaks are easy fixes and they have no dramas with that, when it comes to engines we take photos and present them the evidence, they then make the call... As a dealer we have no choice but to do what they say, remember the engine is still fully covered under warranty if something was to fail... The tiny marks in the piston (about 4mm long and 2mm wide on each intake valve recess) will not be detrimental, BUT, if something were to happen down the track theyd have to replace it. If it was my personal car and it was out of warranty id reuse the pistons. But also if my car had 4000ks on it I wouldnt want any marks in the pistons... So you're telling me instead of replacing a faulty long motor which shows obvious signs of damage you have been told to do a half ass job, patch it up and get the guy off your lot.... Right? I regret selling my SS more than ever now. Whether its noticeable or not as Bionic stated the pistons had score marks in them. You would obviously be OK if your basically brand new car bent valves, damaged pistons and they weren't replaced?I wouldnt be. Plus, this isn't Expensive Daewoo v Ford. I mean where do I start on this issue? orange farmers from griffith are pusing their orchards out because tight arse 'aussies' won't spend an extra 10 cents a kilo to support their countrymen. we choose to save the money and buy 3 month old oranges from brazil. then the farmers won't spend the extra money at the local clothes shop in town because they didn't make any in the first place.. this country is going down the gurgler because we won't support our own.
