If the company car was only 2 seats then I would have to keep the G6 to haul the kids around but the Modeo will make a pretty good family rig.

Yeah mate.. I'd follow the suggestion above.. Put it in the garage.. And see how bad your withdrawal is..

Even if you do miss the car a bit.. Is it worth the insurance and rego for something you drive occasionally?

I also have a mortgage and company car, brand new mine spec hilux .......................................doesn't push you back in the seat when it comes on boost though

in short, 18months into having company car and onto my second work car, still have the falcon and drive it a couple times a month

That's tough! I know what I'd do though. Take pressure off of finances now it will benefit your chances of being better off in the future, therefor your 'treasury department' may be a little more lenient on future purchases. Especially if she (oops, they) realizes that you have made a significant sacrifice for your future. Although I'd never let her forget it!! Lol.

Cheers guys, there are pros and cons for which way I go. I think I'll keep the G6 in the garage for a couple of months and see if I miss it by not driving it.

was also in the same position, got a work van. its all very well getting the car/ute/van, and not having to worry about fuel, or rego or insurance.

now I only drive the ute on weekends sometimes after work.

but

fk me I look forward to driving it sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!

I just cant wait for the weekend to come so I can go out friday night hit the hwy, catch up with mates. and or go for a good old thrash.

Something else to add on the cost of keeping it is in the interest on the mortgage that you'll save from putting the money from the car onto it.

So you got

~$1000p/a insurance

~$1200p/a rego

~$1800 (saved on mortgage assuming $30k for car @6% interest on mortgage)

Tell the mrs that if she lets you sell the car and put the money on the mortgage, you'll save approx $4k a year. $4k a year over the next 5 years goes a long way towards a new toy to play with in the future.

Now that's logic speaking, but after seeing the build on this car through the forum, its come a long way and would be hard to let go.
