Just started a new job and with it comes a fully maintained company car, brand new Mondeo Wagon TD.

Now do I sell the G6ET? I know I won't drive it much, maybe couple times a month. I fully own it and could put the money into our mortgage but have put a lot of personal touches into it and would hate to see it go.

What to do?

Hard choice. But having a morguage ill sell it. You now have a company car so save on reg/insurance/maintenence/petrol. You can do it all again in a few years

Smart thing to do would be to sell it and whack it on the mortgage. Might be worth considering how long you'll be at your new job though? Also is your car your hobby, maybe workout how much you can afford such a "hobby". You'll probably have the chance to do something custom at some point in the future, and have saved some good money towards it ;)

I have a company car but kept the turbo ute. I thought about selling but glad I didn't because every week or so I love taking it out. After about 2-3 weeks im really itching to drive it again. I would just miss it too much if I sold it.

I am tending towards selling it. The cost to have it in the garage, insurance/reg/service, doesn't seem financially practical. If it was an old classic then I would have no hesitation in keeping it.

I'd love to it again in a few years but convincing the treasury department when it time will be difficult. She just doesn't get the attraction of modifying cars.

If cars are your hobby then you can't just stop playing with them. You either need to sell it and buy a cheaper car to start playing with or keep it. I have my daily and my toy car. I can't live without having something to tinker with.

I guess if you had a second car you'd only be driving it on the street wouldn't you? So you need to pay for rego and all the other stuff every year.

Sell it - buy a weekend toy that won't depreciate like the G6E would.

That way drive the Mondeo for most duties, and have an old X series for fun weekend stuff.

Mate, I had the same issue.. I sold the Turbo ute.. Couldn't justify the rego/insurance for something that wasn't being driven.

But I kick myself every weekend.. I really miss having a fun car..

Occasionally when I'm in town I swap the work ute for the work SS.. It's just not the same..

I miss the T and I'm pissed that the wife convinced me we didn't need it.. But I know I made the right decision.. Does that make any sense?
