November issue, nice write up about the GT and the XR6 Turbo again! With a shootout against the XR6 Turbo and the SS. Once again XR6 Turbo gets 4.5 out of 5 !! and the SS 3.5 out of 5. GO the XR6 Turbo! :D They even had some photos of the Acid Rush colour.. bloody nice can't wait! :D Check it out has the Red 427 on the front.. Guest jey_16 Guests Posted 29/10/02 07:00 AM Share Posted 29/10/02 07:00 AM yeah, read that article, I always thought wheels had a Expensive Daewoo bias but after this article, that thought has gone from my mindalso, they said the GT might be 300kw becuase Ford tended to underate there engines....?????, even at 290, it still is damn goodbut to put it in there words, a 300kw GT at HSV ClubbieR8 prices!!! Even though they tried justifying it in their article, it was simply a marketing stunt to get readers attention. A quote direct from MOTOR October,"One Ford engineer told MOTOR that part of Ford's quality accreditation to ISO 9002 meant accurate reportage of power figures."Why play the readers for fools just to sell a few more mags? How many other facts have they blurred?
turbo_nick some guy... Member 277 Member For: 22y 2m 15d Posted 29/10/02 11:14 AM Share Posted 29/10/02 11:14 AM that's a bit dodgy - claiming that GT's got 300kw.keep in mind that if you dynoed all the C4B engines, you'd find that a lot of them are around 290-295kw mark.and it's a well known (unofficial) fact that the T3 had closer to 260kw.it's all about marketing... What Rims are those? They look like GT rims. also ive hard the 18" rims are a different design to the standard 17" rims. Can anyone confirm this? Same pic that is on Fords website.l seen them fitted on an XR that the dealer we bought from had just recieved into stock. Look great, really toughen up the cars apperance. Needless to say we optioned them. From the Spec sheet and what the dealer told me, the 17"s are standard on the XR8, with the same 18's available as an option. Apart from the 5.4 lt, l am not aware of any other differences between the XR6T and XR8. If rumours of the XR8 costing $52k are correct, by the time you added premium sound, an auto and maybe premium barkes or leather, you are looking at $60k on the road.
