I was running pacemaker extractors and decided to heat wrap them along with my turbo dump pipe..I used up approx 5-7 meters but like I said overlapped the wrap almost half..as for the temp rating being 550'c(1050'F) pretty sure that's ok,ive never had a drama.. I just removed the old wrap off my Expensive Daewoo v8 and slapped them back on my car to see if indeed they'd crack?? took it for test drive and seem to be as good as when I wrapped them,no leaks, crack or any issue at all? I must be one of the lucky ones..lol Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/82988-heat-wrapping-exhaust/page/4/#findComment-1331602 Share on other sites

Would it be worth ceramic coating a mild steel dump or again is stainless a better option? 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/82988-heat-wrapping-exhaust/page/4/#findComment-1331620 Share on other sites
BRK Member 361 Member For: 13y 6m 14d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 29/11/12 05:24 AM Share Posted 29/11/12 05:24 AM A quality Ceramic coating is best. Heat wrap will shorten the life of the material beneath. Cast iron tolerates it if the casting is high quality. Mild steel will last for a while and stainless a bit longer. The factory dimpled shields do a good job actually and some of the better high mounts use the same product. If your handy and patient, some brackets and so forth to put the dimpled shields on again is a real good idea.Use what you bought and plan for the next improvement.BTW - for the wiki addicts.... it is not recognised by any credible researchers as a good source. They did the piston crowns and skirts in my ducati. including postage to them, it was still cheaper than here in perth. I got quoted around 200-250 to ceramic my dump (4"manta stainless) here in perth.. but I think it will go for a scenic trip to HPC.just my .02ccheers Edited 15/12/12 06:00 AM by Chaos310 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/82988-heat-wrapping-exhaust/page/4/#findComment-1337227 Share on other sites
