Considering Fg Xr8?

an na engine still needs to rev to make power and the turbo six makes more power and torque at lower revs than the 5.4lt v8 which makes its torque peak quite high in the revs so the turbo has more "instant power" so to speak that's why my xr6 turbo literally pulls away from an fg 5.4 like its in reverse it has instant torque very low in the rev range where a boss has to rev to around 4500 to really start moving

when u put down your foot in any naturally aspirated car the power is instant with a turbo u have to wait for boost to spool....

can u count to potato?

You do realise that all the XR6 Turbo is, is essentially an NA car with a turbo? 533nm of Torque is available from 2000rpm in an FG Turbo, where the XR8 ONLY has 520nm at 4750rpm. Not much 'spool' time there, considering more torque is made 2750rpm EARLIER than the 5.4

omg u people r thick...

it's got nothing to do with which engine or how much power it makes...

put an Na xr6 next to a turbo xr6 and for the first mili second before boost kicks in it will be faster...

you people are way too literal... it is a saying "instant power" I'm dgf what torque figures it makes it about the feeling when u put your foot down and when the thing FEELS "laggy" like a turbo spooling people don't always like it... that's the only point I was making when I compared the two...

your right but wrong.

u wanna get technical about this lets put a n.a. xr6 next to a xr6t.

the n.a. for the first part (even if it's tiny) will flog a turbo... why..m coz it is the same engine but with higher compression. so when u put your foot down it is working already and pretty much revving to achieve maximum efficiency...

a turbo is decompressed slightly to allow for more boost to be shoved in and therefore has not got the snappy response of throttle of the n.a.... and until boost is achieved it cannot when think about running at maximum efficiency.

I drive a f6 an xr6 both fg, and ss and clubbys for work every day...

I <3 Bananas your stats the first 3 seconds in manual clubby feels quicker than the f6 running 22psi... until it hits boost ... simple for some to grasp I guess

Alter heading to 'princess vs winstor'....

If I was the op and had the money for a 2nd car it would be an SS wagon or fg xr8. Go for it :)

in my experience with manual V8s and manual turbos... u tend to get your ass handed to u from a standing start versus any old mom in an NA auto for the first gear atleast! I dont creep down "left lane ends" lanes at traffic light anymore just to save the embarrassment lol...

that's my take on the bickering

What it really comes down to is.... You want a great sounding cruiser.......or just a fast car that does nothing else.

XR8 with exhaust and a little go but sounds sweet

Or

A XRT that goes damn good but sounds like poo?

I rekon the turbo six sounds awesome with some mods like a fighter jet and whats the point having a car that only sounds fast that's for posers all show no go I think people talk up the lag situation way too much my manual fg has almost no lag and will spank a clubbie or other na car off the line because it is already making boost when you rip out the clutch youj ust have to know how to drive and have some decent rubber a lot of v8s up my way sound well sh*t they are way to loud sound like they are flying but go like sh*t its false advertising
