Who Cares If The Falcon Dies ?

Whilst having a coffee with the fellows , the topic of the Falcon and its survival was raised ... Surely with $103m injected into Ford Aust - $34m by the Aust government and the balance - $69m by its American parent , Would it be possible that we may see the end of the Falcon ?.

Interesting , the the thread around the table was 'who cares if Falcon dies , just as long as Aust get the new 493kw , 322km/hr Shelby Mustang GT500 '.

Further , what made the topic heated , was the learning that Ford were recently in Detroit testing the new Mustang

Is it possible , that the Falcon will die in Aust , and we will see the Mustang delivered to our shores to replace the FPV ??

Earlier, there were some threads - suggesting once HSV deliver their supercharged V8, with its improved chassis - many we move across from FPV to HSV - I personally can't that !!! So , with parts remaining a issue in Aust with the failure of Autodom - could it possible that Ford - will remain a player in the commuter market - and Ford America will support what we knew as FPV into Aust ?

Further , is it possible that Ford America could deliver a 493kw Mustang into the Aust market for the price or better than we are being asked to pay for the current RSpec ? (**Currently importers are asking $150k+ for current model Shelby Mustang's - is it possible that a 380kw + car from the states could be landed into Aust for around $80k or better ?**)

Your thoughts are welcomed :buba:

P.S.... Ford Aust told me over the weekend - if I placed a order on a GT with SatNav - I would not expect to see the car until April/May 2013 - so I decided to hold on to my deposit until 2013 - and see the land lies until the dusk settles

It's here until at least 2016 I believe. After that I'd say it's a safe bet that it will be given the chop.

It's interesting to me that a lot of manufacturers are offering these 0% or 0.5% finance deals except for Ford.

Adam

I was also thinking that ?? - Why is that ? - You would like all the other manufactures - Ford would be keen to increase it's market share - or at least - make a home for their new cars .. Apart from a serial of advert' from Allan Moffat , and recently during Bathhust - other than the Ford Focus and Terrority - there isn't much fan fair when it comes to Ford - delivered into the home via the TV or print .

Does any one know - why Ford are not offering those 0 - 1.9% finance deals ? and why are continuing to use Esanda Finance to move their stock at 6.9 - 7.6%

cause ford arent in touch with the consumer- just the bean counters.

theyll prol can the falcon, then 10 years later realise that was a bad move- just like they did after the xe with the v8's.

"why is Expensive Daewoo getting more sales than us?" duuuh because in your wisdom you canned a major part of the buyers requirement.

chumps...

I like the big Fords. Front wheel drive sh***ts me. BMW's are too dear. People in oz want their cake and eat it. All for local industry but don't buy the products - or am I wrong. ???? The number of Prados on the road in WA seems to grow every day so I wonder if people really give a toss.

Whilst having a coffee with the fellows......

the thread around the table was 'who cares if Falcon dies

all credability lost.

first thing first, beer should have been the choice of drink.

second, I really dont care if we get a mustang as a replacement of some sort for our aussie designed and built falcon!

mustang has never meant anything to me and probably never will.

love my escorts, early capris, cortinas and love the big boofy falcons.

nothing out of the states will do as a replacement for me.

if the falcon dies, I will be shopping elsewhere.

It's pretty simple to me

The only cars with true 3 seats across the back is falcon and territory the up to a land cruiser or patrol

Late model camira jeep grand Cherokee and many others are same size outside but only have 2.5 seat width. With 3 kids and doing 6000klm road trips each year this is a major buying decision for me.

So what ever they replace it with needs to have true 3 seats across the back and a better than avg performance option

I don't expect good pricing on any ford, or other manufacturers, overseas models. We get ripped off, Aussie dollar is smoking but we still get shafted. I expect similar pricing points to what we have, why wouldn't they will want to milk us for what we're used to.

It would great - if someone whom has a closer relationship to Ford - middle and or upper management to offer a insight here - as what the common folk can expect from Ford Aust in the next few years - expecially around the performance range
