In fact, the sub sits about an inch below the top parcel shelf trim - not on top of it.The trim is flimsy board covered in carpet. It obviously makes a difference installed, as the low frequencies have something to load from as mentioned, but you're theory of 'separating' the air is incorrect.Oh and 'unopenned' is not a word. I did not think they would make any difference so did not bother putting it all back together.I have some dynamat on the underside of my parcel shelf, but would like to put some on top as well just to make it a bit more solid. Alberts car stereo was only two doors up from Jaycar so decided to pick up two sheets of dynamatt $70.00. Completed install with dynamatt.The bass is much much puncher and cleaner in sound, big improvement.It also improved bass down at lower volumes.Drove around for a week before deciding to Dynamatt front doors.But this time I went to Jaycar and picked 4 x Response sound deadener 1.5mm for $107.00Sheet sizes are 900mm by 350mm.Was not sure how much the sound would improve and improve it did!It has tightened up the system and added extra depth to the bass.I still have one sheet left which I intend to use on the rear doors.Great improvement over stock!Cheers for heads up on the sub J@. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
