I'm contemplating this change soon and want to know if anyone on a FG has used a aftermarket plenum and got better results than the oem FG item.

Extra work is no issue for me so just wanting to know the pro's and cons of each manifolds design, surely someone has some data to show one out performs the other or are they just as good as each other?

I know this is a long shot but surely someone with a FG has put a aftermarket manifold on and has results, has someone on a B series gone from aftermarket back to oem(FG style not bbm).I know discussing manifolds has been done to death but cant get any solid data to show if one would out do the other.

Thanks guys.

Go to the old APS sites and see what P. Luxon said about this. He likes centre feed. However, there are other opinions as you know. I watched a front feed manifold being designed to go onto a supercharged RB30 way back and just seeing what they went through to get even flow into each feed port for each of the cylinders was very interesting. At full throttle, it worked quite well with quite even exhaust temps cylinder to cylinder - - but at low throttle and then introducing pressure (max acceleration), the back two cylinders lost flow. They messed around with a tapered design which helped. This was going on something that was to be raced so road manners were not considered..Also, on shut down, it got a reversion pulse in the manifold which caused the front two cylinders to run hot ( temp spike in the exhaust ). There was / is a lot in this and without the R&D to support, it is difficult to get the right answer. Gut reaction says centre mounted t/body.

I would have loved to add an inch of plenum to the FG. I think that would have been perfect but bonnet clearance would have been an issue

the FG factory inlet manifold is good for up to 600+ rwkw we've done it a few times, but if you want the bling factor & yes they do work very well take a look at the hyer-tune totaly redesign short runners with I think velosity tubes inside good power with less boost...

Power with less boost is the big thing tbh,I want 400rwkw on race premium retaining the spaghetti rods.Would like to get their using 18psi max through the stally.

My tuner does a good rod and piston package that handles 450rwkw no sweat,SPOOL rods is one of the parts he uses in the package.

Bling....well tbh if I got aftermarket plenum it would be coated black anyways as I'm not a bling person.
