I've recently become a big fan of driving almost exclusively in manual mode. does this have any adverse effects in relation to wearing out clutches faster or causing the trans for wear out faster in general? I'm not alway up it when driving it manually, most times im just cruising around but I just find it much more fun/pleasurable to drive in manual mode. But around town leave it in auto non-performance. I have the 4 speed and in desperate need of a trans cooler I think so leaving it in manual helps when you need it to hold gears and your over-working the auto gear changing. I think your ZF is better in that regard though. Not sure if perf mode actually makes the shifts shorter but if it does then driving in manual mode all the time will definitely help your box. The clutches get mostly worn on D because that is the slow shift for comfort setting where you don't want to feel the box shifting at all so the box allows the most slip. Feels so "slimy" when it shifts itself in D. I have had 300+rwkw since before 100,000km and it still works pretty well and I get up it fairly regularly. Have had fluid changed once to Transmax Z at about 150,000km. Since that was done it now yo-yo's about 500RPM when stone cold and trying to cruise in higher gears up slight hills, bit less RPM shift once warm, gone when up to temp - but that's after about 15 minutes...am going to go back to genuine I think for next flush hypnodoc had same symptom and that fixed his.I have managed to wear out the 3 to 4 shift though, no longer changes under WOT but it's that high a speed that it only comes into play on the drag strip so not high on the to do list. Has been that way since probably 140,000km or earlier, hard to pinpoint as I thought it was due to me getting off the gas a bit each shift and the gearbox being "smart".Oh that reminds me though I do let off the gas when shifting the auto, I try to get it to shift without needing to engine brake at all. I hoped the flush would fix this but it fixed everything but that. Like you said good once up to temp though. I only do it if I'm changing higher up in revs, maybe 2500+. Basically whatever I have to do in order to minimise the grabbing through the driveline. I do enjoy rev matching on 3-2 downshift and to a lesser extent 4-3 (have to be more precise).There's also other fluids people are using besides genuine LifeGuard6 and Transmax Z but I'm undecided.As for the yo-yoing it could be as simple as fluid level, I am yet to get it checked though. Simon assured me it was normal (he's seen it on brand new cars) but it never did it before so I'm still concerned.
