Hi guys,

I was looking at putting some 20x8 and 20x10 on my G6ET some time ago but understood they were too wide to confirm to the vicroads legal requirements so put this on hold.

As the GT R-spec comes out with 19x9s at the back now standard, does this mean you can get away with 10s legally as they are within the 25mm allowable increase.

Cheers,

Pete

I would say no, as the gt wheels are not an option for your specific vehicle then the maximum would still be 9's. this is just my opinion though.

so then are fpv and ford considered the same manufacturer? and then would gt's and g6et's be considered the same series? because the 'g series' never came with that option.

You may be correct Tra1nr although the Vicroads web site is a little vaige about increasing the width no greater than 25mm from the vehicle model or series available from the factory.

(So you would need to own a GT R-spec to fit 20x10s legally in Victoria?)

thinking about it more, it would be impossible to get 10's in an offset that only increases the rear track by 25mm or less, as they would not fit due to hitting on the inside, so this would render any other argument void, and make them illegal for all fg's. you may be able to go 9.5, but then only in the correct offset, and on a gt.

Not rear track TRA1NR, they are talking about not increasing the wheel width more than 25mm from the widest wheel available for the model or series of vehicle you are wanting to modify.

I know mate, but if you read further in the link Adam posted, the maximum rear track will come into play also, which is 25mm more than standard.

D4mn. I always thought it was only 1 inch as well but then I saw that 13.3.2 Option 2 is under the section 13.3 which is "Raising of Four Wheel Drive Vehicles - alternative to VSB 14 Modification Code LS". The previous section 13.2 "VSB 14 Modification Code LS" is what seems to be applicable to us. This section refers out to Code LS part of VSB 14 http://www.infrastru...Jan_2011 v3.pdf. On page 22 it lists out that the max legal rim size must not exceed recommended rim size for the tyres fitted, and, the max legal tyre size is 1.3 times of that fitted as standard or as option on the car. A table on Page 23 then lists out basically for manufacturer fitted tyre size of 245 (FG), max legal tyre size is 315, and thus it says max legal rim width is 12.5. Obviously 12.5 will not be legal as the other caveats are that the rims cant extend beyond the guards or foul suspension. But been reading the fg offsets thread theres tons of awesome info saying that 10 will fit, as long as the offset is within legal limits, which as TAIN1NR correctly stated, cannot be more than 25mm increase, measured from mid-point of L tyre to mid-point of R tyre, so no more than 12.5mm rim offset variation per side (as stated also on page 23 of the above pdf).

Please, someone verify that, please. I've been reading the fg offsets thread and the info there is getting me all excited and I want 10 wide rims rear. thanks in advance for all the great info posted.
