tailshaft is a good idea if your planning on running any kind of sticky tyres, if it doesnt break good for you but if it does break it will smash the living f*ck out of everything underneath the car and f*ck lots of sh*t up...

and should be able to redrill the stock actuator bracket to fit I think...

How many of you guys have upgraded your driveshaft? I am trying to work out whether I should do it before I get the car tuned to 400rwkw or whether it can wait?

Do it 1st.. mine let go with just 300rwkw.

I think people struggle when fixing something that isnt broken. Itll save you money in the long run.. the damaged caused by the tailshaft letting go can get expensive to fix..I can assure u :(

What's the longest someone's ZF (non tuned) has lasted after this turbo or around 400rwkw?

Weighing up whether to do tailshaft + turbo and save while driving, or save to do gearbox at the same time

Mines still holding up with 470rwkw. I think the thing that saves it is just the fact that it can turn the tyres easily and its not getting the power down... In saying that though my standard box is coming out and one my cousin AMD I built is going in next week

Autotech customer Younis still has the standard box and tailshaft, he did about 4 or 5 passes, quickest pass was 10.6 and highest MPH was 135.

Even though it is possible the tailshaft will break eventually and it will cost you more.

I would be strengthening the tailshaft before going to the drags, especially if its an FG as they seem to twist easier than the BA/BF ones.

The ZF can wait, unless you bust the input shaft it will just start to slip but you will still be able to drive it, tailshaft on the other hand is tow truck time.

My fg shaft let go on the dyno

I replaced it with a bf xr6 n/a shaft and its lasted this far but its a massive risk really, but it also "felt " thicker and more HD for some crazy reason
