so my standard turbo died due to bad judgment by my old mechanic. he has agreed to replace it so I went to a performance group here in tassie and they quoted me 3k for a whole new stock turbo, modified rear housing with flapper mod and external gate all fitted to the vechile drive in drive out. what I was wondering though is should I go the 35/82 core? (may have to pay a little extra not sure) and still get the modified housing, im aiming for around the 400rwk mark in the near future. I've also read about the GTX turbo's that boost from a very low rpm, is this one of them?

Gtx3582r retail 1900 trade 1600 currently pretty hard to get but I think MTQ have some. You wont regret it

Keep in mind that this price excludes exhaust housing.

GTX3582R will also require a 4" cold air intake, possibly a battery relocation and a retune as it will flow more than your old turbo.

The compressor housing also needs a boost reference nipple drilled and tapped into it for the waste gate actuator.

Make sure you get the waste gate modified. Get the biggest flap that they have and port it as much as possible.

If you go to MTQ and they offer you an exhaust housing that already has a larger flap fitted, don't waste your time with it. It's the standard FG flap/port size and will over boost like a motherf*cker.
