Hey guys new to the forums here. I've had my fg 2011 xr6t for a few months now and wanna get an exhaust and tune. I've been told if I do this I will have to get a new cooler cos the standard plastic tanks won't last. Also been told I would need cold air intake aswell but don't wanna void my warranty.

Ive asked around everywhere and keep getting different answers.

Cheers people!

If you just want noise get a centre/ rear muffler replacement and you won't need a tune.

Had to drive my car around stock recently for a different matter that I was sussing out with the engine - boy did I notice the difference after I put my custom tune back in a few day later :w00t2:

A custom tune will void your warranty and you'll need your warranty with these cars due to all the niggly things that happen based on what I've read on this forum. So far with my BA - no major engine issues that I'm aware of. So maybe wait a bit until you're a bit happier and feel things are sorted with your car since it sounds like you've only had it a short while.

Having said that - you can get custom tunes that don't take your car to the limit of its current hardware but are still better than the stock tune. But it's pretty black and white with your warranty as far as Ford are concerned. I've also heard Ford can detect now when a custom tune has been used in a FG. Didn't worry me with my BA - when I got it - it was out of warranty.

Basic take is it from ford from what I've been told is.

If they deem that any modification has added to or caused fault they will not cover it under warranty.

But I really think this also comes down to how well you get on with your ford dealership.

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeh ford told me an exhaust wont void warranty but a flash tune will but u can put the tune back to stock if u need to take it to them. any mod that causes a problem wont be covered sounds about right.
