Hey lad's I've received a few PM's and request's in regard's to what I am up to with my Capri so I thought I would throw up a Thread and slowly add to it as it progresses along, as you all know these thing's take time and alot of money, BUT sometime's no matter how much money you throw at them thing's just never progress as planned and get thrown on the back burner, but that's not the case at this point she is actually a work in progress in the chassis shop receiving some rear end work...

I have owned it a number of year's now, I actually bought it pretty much as you see it pictured for an old school cruiser as I've alway's loved Capri's, I'm actually a Expensive Daewoo man and have a few old school Torana's aswell, but I've alway's been attracted to Tuff Capri's and so I bought this car turn key for a cruiser for the Family....( Now need another cruiser ;) )

The car is fully engineered for everything...ie...guages, front runner's, driveline, scoop etc etc, the car came as a mild 302w C4 and 9 inch diff with 3.25 gearing, but am told by the previous owner it had his 393 windsor 2spd and a different ratio rear end and it ran a best of 9.80-9.90 @ 138-140mph some year's ago, that driveline has now been transplanted into his mint white XY GS Falcon and he sold off the Capri to recoup some cost of the XY...

To cut a long story short, I am a big turbo fan, no matter what the brand or amount of cylinder's or rotor's, even tuff V8's float my boat, So after having an XR6T for a number of year's and being long over the 302w and it's piggy manner's, I thought imagine the Capri with a nice mild XR6T engine and 4spd auto conversion would be pretty sweet, and that was the initial plan, I knew it would easily outpower the 302, be way smoother, quieter and more fuel efficient...

So after again speaking to the engineer, told him what I had planned, he got back to me within a few day's and said go for it, he told me I can run any ECU I like, don't have to run fly by wire throttle, can have as big a cam's as I like, I don't even have to run a cat converter, so pretty much everything I mentioned to him was a green light, that's when my brain went about 6 million miles an hour, reason for this is Because I had this setup I had bought which was planned for my XR6T, but that went out the window, I thought if I was going to go back to old school, I'm going back in a big way, I was going to load it with technology and lot's of it, aim was to make it fully engineered and legal, so after speaking to John of JL Racecar's, he spoke with the engineer once again to confirm and got the nod to proceed...

So here we are, engine of choice is a brand spanker's 2011 spec Atomic 998 GT-R with a few extra touches, I actually fitted the engine into my BA XR6T to run it in, felt so tuff compared to the original engine, and sounded like a big cammed 8, never tuned it other than a run in tune...

To compliment the engine is a set of ETM BA / FG Falcon extractor's, ETM 4inch Dump, Turbosmart 60mm Powergate and a GT4718R ( GT47-88 Roller ), at the start I was not to sure any of this would fit in or under the bonnet of the Capri, as I had bought it all to suit an XR6, but infact surprisingly they all fitted perfectly with just a minor adjustment to the wastegate position, everything went in and clear's with abit of room to spare, You may also notice I changed the sump, from a front pan position BA sump to a rear pan position FG sump, this is a must to clear the front crossmember & rack and pinion steering...

So now I was at a stage to make a decision what Tran's I was going to use before sending the car in, I had a fully built transbraked 4spd auto built by Yarra Valley which worked extremely well, but upon thinking about it I decided I would have my hand's full steering this little sucker than to worry about changing gear's all the time, so I decided to lash out and buy a brand spanker's 1800hp rated 2spd speed from ProTran's....Spec's below...

So after this arrived it was time to send the car into JL Racecar's for fitment, this is prior to going in....

Few week's later it came out looking like this...

I initially set it up with an FG Turbo plenum, but I'm not sure if I am going to be using either that or a Nizpro Cobra Plenum with BA runner's, I like the neatness of the FG unit, I have fuel rail etc to suit it, I will get back to that as I get closer I guess...

So it was time to send her in to get the rear end done, and after getting the run around's by JL Racecar's (Rediculous waiting time) I decided to send the car into Taverna Bros to get the rear end done which is where she currently is...

This was a few week's ago and I was told the rear rail's etc were still all to come out, and alot of other assorted metal...

rear1a.jpg

rear2e.jpg

These are the new boot's she will be wearing once back on it's wheel's...

weldx.jpg

weld2.jpg

Order for Taverna is largish size new sheet metal Tub's, new large shoulder 9inch housing, relocated leaf spring's moved both in and upward's, 35 Spline Full floating hub's, Full Floating 35 spline billet axles, Strange 35 spline Nodular Iron centre casing, Moser Wavetrac 35 spline True Trac centre, 3.5 Pro gearset, ventilated rear disc's and handbrake etc all setup ready to go, new shockies etc, adjustable top arm's and a stabilizer for racing, Chromoly Rollcage all tucked in as neat and as hidden as possible...

That's where she's at, will add more pic's and info as I go along, and Yes is has all been pre approved for the tubbing etc which is why it has to have full floating hub's and no locker's etc etc, already have purchased larger twin piston front brake setup to compliment the rear's, also will be most likely running this new electric / hydraulic braking setup which requires me to run no brake booster or vacuum tank etc...

I will add stuff as I go along, like I said at the very beginning it won't happen overnight but it's progressing, I haven't been there for a few week's and I told him I would like to see it this side of Xmas so finger's crossed...

Cheer's...

his injector choice?

Yes Injector choice are Moran Billet's, they come with a lifetime warranty, can be fully upgraded all the way up to 600lb is required...

Here's a video of how they work compared I think it may be an ID2000 but I could be wrong...

Here's sorta how they spray in real life, but take note this is duel injector's per cylinder...
